Notice how the car (circled in yellow) is stopped past the cart crossing (red x).
Unfortunately this is the exception and not the rule.
Once I even saw the second car in line wait behind the cart crossing so as not to clog up half a dozen golf carts!

Errrr...it's a photo. Everything is still in a photo. I doubt if that car was stopped when the photo was shot. More likely moving into the traffic circle.

That may very well be the case in this particular photo, but I swear I've actually seen people do the courteous thing in this situation before! Like I said, unfortunately, it's the exception and not the rule.

I guess that is a big assumption unless you sat there for hours and hours and observed what was happening.......................

It's also possible that he stopped before the cart path and when there were no carts coming proceeded to the roundabout and then stopped again. In some case if you stop at the stop sign or line, you can't see whether or not cars are coming from your left or right so you have to make another stop or at least slow down.
But as you say, this is a still photo, who knows what is going on.

When you are driving a car in The Villages, you should be respectful and careful of golf carts but must not forget that cars always have the right of way, so being courteous before the gate and allowing golf cart drivers to pass in front of you may "train" new cart drivers to think that it is their right and put them in potential danger.

I don't "get:" the photograph.

I don't "get:" the photograph, but I am old and dim.
I'm not talking about moving cars stopping to let golf carts through. It's about cars who are stopped and waiting to enter the roundabout. They have two choices, they can stop where the circled car is stopped, or they can stop in the golf cart crossing and clog up cart traffic. Some do the courteous thing, most don't.

DISCLAIMER: My observation is not based on sitting at the intersection for hours and conducting a scientific study (which is apparently a requirement before posting anything on TOTV). It is based on using that roundabout 3x per day for 2 months and observing approximately 75% of cars blocking the cart crossing. This post is entirely for entertainment purposes and readers are welcomed to pick said post apart and dissect it like an unlucky frog in the 9th grade science lab.

I don't think that a survey is important. I think that after you live here for awhile and drive around a lot, you sort of have certain opinions.

Cars do NOT always have the right of way. If they are turning ((whether turning left or right) and a cart is going straight, the cart has the right of way. If a car and cart are at a four-way stop, the law applies as if the cart were another car.

Betty's point was to please not stop your car in the golf cart paths -- you may have to wait for other vehicles but the cart may be able to move (well, would be able to move if your car weren't stopped cold in the path). This is a major problem in negotiating the circle at Morse near 441 and the Santiago/Alhambra gate and, of course, Savannah Center. Some common sense and courtesy goes a long way.

Thank you, Betty, for a great illustration.

Must be a full moon and it is close to Halloween and I am feeling Witchy.

Redwitch. Cars almost always have the right of way.

Did you miss the Coven meeting? It was last night.

JUST KIDDING Folks.

Honest sister, I was kidding.

Gracie, you may be feeling witchy but I'm definitely in witchy with a capital B mode. And I don't go to coven meetings, which are normally held on Fridays. Just not a joiner. ;-)

Whether the car in question is stopped, moving forward or backing up, is immaterial. The OP was trying to make a point, in fact a positive one. Using a photo of that particular intersection was a good choice as cart traffic can get seriously backed up there unless there are a few auto drivers who demonstrate good manners.

Uncle. I am sorry. I will do just that the next time I get a chance. But I can't still figure out what is being done. It looks like a car driver has gone through the gate and is pausing....or not pausing.
