Person to person spread here of virus here
We should all call the Governors office and report this activity. Hopefully then, community watch will have the ability to disburse the crowded areas if he declares a "shelter in place" for our community and stop this as they way they closed the beaches. I can only think the majority of these folks crowding the squares and restaurants are seasonal renters not much concerned about spread in our community.

yes, because the original story was posted on a local villages tabloid site. there's very little intelligence coming from that end. we need to keep it all in perspective, & keep calm. this endless supply of posters adds to the hype & hysteria most of us look @ as gossip-site fodder

So ,simple--the entire virus started with ONE person--simple math-take a penny and double it every day @ the end of 30 days it would be over $5 million & thats a fact--these 20 idiots or more can infect a lot of people

And when they do get it, they will say “I was so careful”. Just ignorant and selfish

As I understand it the FEMA mobile hospital will be near Ocala. I am an RN still licensed to practice in FL. I was interviewed recently by daily sun regarding this field hospital. I have not yet seen anything actually printed in the paper that it is here, up or anywhere close to operational.

Not travel related
2 of the 5 you are referring to ARE travel related- they took a cruise.

"Enforcement" complaints must go to the Sumter County DOH. Email: DLCHD60WebManager@flhealth.gov and phone: 352-569-3102. Unfortunately The Villages can't or won't do anything to prevent this situation (regarding the large gatherings at LSL and other squares every evening) even with the "stay at home" emergency text message that scared the daylights out of me on my cellphone the other day.

While I strongly agree with the emergency e-mail message from the Florida Surgeon General, the message was an advisory, not an order. However, it is very important that we all stay at home as much as possible and only go out for essential activities such as the grocery store or the pharmacy. Whenever we are out and about, we MUST practice good social distancing in order to finally get control of the coronavirus outbreak and minimize the spread of the virus.

FYI,
There is an old saying in finance, "Risk happens very fast!", and what you are witnessing is how the "low information" people and those wo have values about life and risk which are very different than yours, can create risk that happens very quickly. There is herd protection and herd risk. Distinguishing between the two is very situational, and being situationally aware can save lives. In a prior life, I was an oil tanker captain, driving a gasoline or petrochemical bomb around. I have friends and acquaintances who are now no longer here because they didn't observe the proper situational risk. My college room lost his career because there was an accident which he missed a critical step, and someone was lost at sea. Luck plays a part, but you never want to rely on luck. Better temporarily safe than permanently sorry. sportsguy sportsguy |

Yes, and then they will almost predictably blame (pick your favorite political leader here ... silently and to yourself) for their plight.

On my walk today, there they were at Saddlebrook Golf Course, 6-8 of them in a CIRCLE not 2 feet apart.. What is it about possible death from Covid -19 you dont understand. You WILL make the Villages CLOSE ALL courses and courts by your stupidity. or do you think you can have a last round before you TRAVEL back up north and take the virus back to your families....... UNBELIEVABLE but there they are, wish I could post the photo I took.... maybe next time...

Unfortunately, those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Rather the opposite, if by "live free" they mean ignoring the restrictions intended to keep us all safer.

For those who keep comparing this virus to seasonal flu, keep this in mind:
February 28th was the date of the first Coronavirus death in the United States. It took until March 25th to reach 1,000 deaths. So 26 days to get the first 1,000 deaths. Yesterday, March 28th, total deaths went over 2,000. It took only three days to get the second 1,000 deaths. Think about that. Today it's March 29th and there's an outside possibility we will get to 3,000 total deaths today. If that happens, it would be 26 days to get to 1,000, three more days to get to 2,000, and one more day to get to 3,000. Everyone MUST take this thing seriously! Please? |
