Default Solar attic fans

Looking to purchase a solar attic fan to help cool down the garage and house. I am looking at Elite and Solar Guys. Has anyone had any experiences with either of these companies? Or, are there other recommendations for fans? Thanks in advance.

Do a search on garage or attic fans, we installed a garage fan (1100cfm) exhausting to the attic. This pulls cooler air in the garage, and forces all of the hot air out the attic vents. Works very well, and costs much less then 1 solar fan, and moves over 10 times the air (cfm), also works at night until the temperature drops.

If you are referring to an "attic ventilator" - a fan in the roof - you may want to do some google searches on their effectiveness. The research indicates that most heat transfer in the attic is via longwave radiation from the underside of the roof sheathing and attic ventilators don't address that. In addition, they create a slight vacuum in the attic and conditioned air from the house may be drawn up into the attic - an undesirable situation. One (or more) of the DOE labs have looked into this.

Thanks for your interest in our energy-saving solutions for your garage and attic!

The best way to address the original question dealing with “garage cooling” would be to install products that impact the heat load in the garage, such as our garage door insulation and our GF-14 garage ventilation fan (1350CFM). Both products, especially used in combination, can help relieve the heat build-up that normally creates stifling effect in a garage.

Our patented solar fans work as an excellent “run-by-the-sun” solution to help mitigate heat and moisture build-up in the attic airspace. While the main purpose of the solar fans is not garage cooling, they definitely help keep the attic above the garage cooler and drier which benefits your roof life, your A/C efficiency, and the lifespan of your existing blown-in insulation, and some have found that this too contributes to more moderate temperatures in the garage over the long-term.

Please stop by our local showroom on Hwy. 441 our give us a call if you have anymore questions. 352-205-4204 www.thesolarguys.com
