We've had lunch on the patio with our Schnauzer at Johnny Rockets, Athens NY, Crispers, Cody's and Sonic to name a few.

I am trying to talk Mikey, our cat to go to lunch with us, but he absolutely is not interested. I think everyone would enjoy his presence. He is small and black and sweet and very stubborn about what he eats.


I haven't ever seen a kitty at a restaurant. Mikey really doesn't like people food anyway, and only some people. I guess, I should make it very clear that I am kidding.


But not about enjoying Mikey.

You could put a tiny little Service Cat vest on Mikey and bring a bowl of his favorite food. Otherwise... too bad Bonefish doesn't have a patio!

Dogs in restaurants are a common sight in Germany, they lay under the table and a quit unless another dog goes by and they a quickly quieted by their owner. Not allowed in food stores or Churches. When I had my Dachl, we took her to the bank, though Penney's etc. No one squawked people just wanted to see her.

Actually Cody's is the only restaurant that has the required permit to allow a dog in the outside area and there are quite a few requirements that go along with having the permit. Red Sauce does not have a health permit.

Yes, go to Cody's to be perfectly legal and not encounter any problems whatsoever. You don't want your visitors to encounter a problem from other patrons about their dog being at a restaurant, and this is the place you can be sure you are doing the legal/right thing.

If I'm a restaurant owner and have the choice of:

a) banning dogs from the patio and restaurant; or

b) allowing dogs and trying to buy, afford and keep enough liability insurance and lawyers for incidents like this......

I'm going to go with the No Dogs Allowed rule for my restaurant:

Lincoln Road’s Dog Friendly Atmosphere Revisited After Waitress Is Mauled

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – A South Beach waitress is recovering after a dog attacked her on Labor Day weekend. She received 300 stitches, according to an Animal Services report first obtained by CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald. The woman is a waitress at Lincoln Road’s famous Van Dyke restaurant.

On Labor Day weekend, a woman came to the restaurant with her dogs. Witnesses tell CBS4 that the waitress brought a bowl of water to one of the dogs, described as a large black mastiff.

Amen! Dogs are allowed in many civilized countries sitting at restaurants, outside on the decks and patios, with their owners. We enjoy seeing them & yes, we have a dog too.

Yo G...if we got harnesses for our cats and headed out to the pet friendly restaurants, I'll bet it would get interesting !!

Owned dogs in my life and not one of them asked to go to the restaurant with us. They must have known that us as humans enjoyed talking to one another since they could not speak. I saw they enjoyed running around at parks and not as much laying on cement on a restuarant patio floor. So much for a dogs life!

Lost my doggie of 17 years 1 1/2 years ago. Still cry for her. I loved her with all my heart.

I see doggies at craft fairs, and such. Some person could step on your doggie. Some look scared. Apparently you don't think so.

Keep your sweet doggie home. Why take your doggie to a restaurant? Stay home if you want to eat with your doggie.

Great post. We lost ours after 17 year, just a mutt but he was our mutt. Cried my eyes out when he passed. I just think folks should remember they are dogs. Some people don't like to dine with dogs nor do we want to trip over them at the squares. Leave them at home, please !!!!!!!!!!!!!
