First check on the Ikea site. They have VERY decent outdoor curtains in a cream color and they come even longer than 96" if I remember correctly. We had them on Lanai in Hadley. At that time...six years ago? They cost $29 a PAIR.

Thanks Gracie,

I have the drapes/curtains already, need them shorten a few inches.

Just run thru a sewing machine to hem them.

Is there maybe an upholstery shop etc around here?

Try K and C Cleaners in Southern Trace shopping center. I'm about 95% sure they have a sign in the window saying that they do alterations. Their number is 352-633-2688. If not check other dry cleaners. A lot of them do alterations. Good luck.
There are also two listings in The Villages phone book that are under "Alterations-Clothing " that might be able to help you.

There is another post on page 2 asking for a good seamstress. There were a few mentioned there. Check it out.

Had you thought of iron on tape too? Easy and cheaper.

I would hesitate to take them anywhere to be hemmed.

We have drapes across 21ft of sliding glass doors entering our lanai. That is some 50+ feet of drapes. I hung the drapes and pinned them to length after allowing them to hang on the rod for 2-3 days to assure that they had "relaxed" to full length.

Surprise, the floor is not going to be level!

If you just take them and have them shortened "X" number of inches, you will find they will not appear level with your flooring. I guarantee it!

After pinning them to length I put my sewing machine on a card table and moved it along as I hemmed them on the rod. That way I was assured that they are the same distance from the floor when opened and closed.

It was no small job, but they look like they should. The difference in length from one section to another is much more than I would have expected. I am glad I didn't just hem them "X" number of inches. I would have had to re do them to have them look right and that's a whole lot of stitches to remove and start over.

Good luck!

Excellent advice. I was thinking they were outdoor curtains and going to be outdoors.

Yes, if on a lanai, I might not be as concerned about having them exactly the same length from the floor. ....But knowing me....I probably would still stress over having them look "right".

OCD, I guess! (Or CDO, as DeanFL says "in alphabetical order as it should be")
