Default UBER in The Villages

First I will mention I have never used UBER her in Florida or up north.

We are having family visit next month and they tell us they use UBER often and want to get around TV using UBER.

Is UBER commonly used and is the service adequate here?

I saw a car at a recreation center once. Not likely to find much availability here.

You should download the app and research the time and cost for the routes you might want to take. Start the reservation process (enter the destination address) and the app will show you pickup times and costs. Try this for the times and places you might want to travel to and see what the app tells you. As long as you don't confirm the ride there will be no charges. That way you can judge for yourself whether the service is adequate.

We found Uber in Tampa to be available and adequate. The few times I have checked here it has been available but the cost was a little more than I wanted to pay (though not unreasonable)

One thing to consider, while you might be able to get a ride there, you can't always get a ride back.
We've had that happen to us several times in areas that had minimal coverage

There are Uber and Lyft drivers in TV ( ME) . I would suggest installing the Lyft app also ( works the same as Uber) that way you have two choices. When you open either app it will show you the available cars in your area and how soon they can get to you with the cost

Do note though, the Uber & Lyft rates are nearly 3X's higher in Sumter/Marion counties than anywhere else, another words they gouge The Villages with higher than normal rates! Cross into Lake county and pay 1/3rd the prices.

There are two rate areas in TV, they are Ocala and Orlando....each have different rate boundaries so depending on your village location the rate can differ between the two apps....the reason to check both Uber and Lyft...

Default Uber

We used them for some friends that were staying in the RV park across from the American Legion off 466 and Rolling Acres. From Buttonwood to the RV Park it was $47.00!

Ride share companies like Uber & Lyft have minimal service here in The Villages and their fee's are exorbitant. Make a friend and share a ride.

Had no trouble getting an Uber after dropping off a rental car at Hertz. Took 8 mins to pick me up and take me home just south of Lake Sumter.

For what cost for the ~7 mile trip? RARELY does an available one show up on the app(s) unless you want to wait an hour. When i do see them they are usually parked at the hospital here. Needed a quick ride up to car dealer in Leesburg (12.5 miles) on a weekday morning around 10am. They wanted over $50 (before tip) and a 45 min wait. Eventually the dealer picked me up for free and a $10 tip to the driver. Use them all the time up north to/from airports.

If they're staying either in a Villages home (like yours, for example) or in one of the hotels that you can get to by golf cart, they should just rent a golf cart. If it's more than two people, they could rent a car. Much much less expensive than paying "per ride."
