My husband doesn't know of any pickup but he said he definitely would be interested and will ask around. PM us if you get more information, as we will also. Thanks

The problem is that the softball fields are in use from sunrise to sunset by the leagues.

Why don't you get evaluated, it only takes 3 Tuesdays and you can do that three weeks in a row and then you'll be done and can play. However, instead of playing for one team on a team schedule you can be a full-time sub. For example, today Saturday the neighborhood leagues begin play at 9am on four different diamonds and games start every 90 minutes until 3:15 and we have 11 players on a team.

As a sub you could play in 2 or 3 different games in one day. The current winter season the shortage for players isn't as severe but there is openings, the summer and fall season there is a much greater demand for subs. The neighborhood teams play once a week and only on Saturday. The teams are coed, although most teams only have 1 or 2 woman and some have none. Aluminum bats are used which are provided. The only negative is subs must bat last in the order and you might find yourself stuck in rightfield. However, we've had subs play shortstop, pitcher, whatever we needed.

If you want to play Monday - Friday, then that is the rec league. Teams usually play twice a week, use Micah bats which you have to buy and they cost a couple of hundred dollars, and women and men have separate leagues. They also need subs. The first step is to go get evaluated. Go to the ball fields on 466 by the schools across from Red Lobster at 7:30 on Tuesday morning.

Yes, there is a casual play softball event that meets every Wednesday at 1:30 at the softball complex. You can call the organizer for more details. It is listed in the weekly Recreation News. It is just show up and play. No evaluations or anything else. I have gone once and it is fun and laid back. Good bunch of guys with skills of all levels just looking to play for fun.
