Default Happy New Year…

With the new year just days away, what is everyone’s plan for Friday and Saturday? Parties, the squares, a restaurant or anything else. We are most likely laying low but just wondering what wonderful things people are doing.

Going to bed unusually early New Years Eve and getting up unusually early New Year’s Day. The plan is to begin the long awaited drive to our Villages home at first light on 1/1/22 : ) Keeping a close eye on the weather, don’t mind driving 680 miles per day with decent weather, but not in snow and freezing rain. We will be very disappointed if the weather forces us to delay the trip a couple of days : ( If that happens, probably will be drinking too much and staying up unusually late New Years Eve and sleeping late New Year’s Day? If stuck at home New Year’s Day, there’s always the annual Three Stooges marathon on TV to lighten up the mood.

Hope the weather hold out for you. Safe travels.

I will be riding my bicycle while looking for wallets and money in a couple of the local bars parking lots … really no different than any other Saturday morning

We usually stay "in" on New Year's Eve given the poliferation of inebriated drivers herding their cars (and, I assume, golf carts for those who get an early start on inebriation) but my wife does a "charcuterie" (sp?) thing that we graze off for as much of the evening as we can manage to stay awake, which ends earlier and earlier every year. Shrimp cocktail, various cured meats, cheeses, olives, peppers, whole-grain crackers, things like that. Wine--probably Riesling. Lots of talk about the coming year, what our plans are going to be, etc.

All in all a very good way to spend the evening.

I normally don’t tell people about “our plans” unless your a friend - why would you want to know? Just saying.

Going by golf cart to a neighborhood outdoor concert, with mosquito spray. Then home for shrimp dip & a movie. Probably asleep by 11 & hoping no one nearby has fireworks, for the dogs sake.

I love Riesling and usually don’t find anyone else drinking it - have you tried Chateau ste Michelle?

We invited friends over for NYE then we will definitely be watching college footballs finest in a double header on NYE. Going to be some great football to watch, maybe even some major upsets.
