Default Playing a round of golf when the course is closed.

After the rain, I took a little cart ride this evening and drove past two Executive courses. Both courses were closed, with a "Course Closed" sign on their windows and another sign that read, "Cart Paths Only."

There was a two some who had just teed off on the first hole, at one course, and on the other course there was a foursome in play around the third hole who drove on the fairway. Then, a 3some pulled up to play, without stopping at the starter's shack. I politely told them the course was closed, but they ignored me, and went to the first hole and teed off.

What really annoyed me though were the people who drove on the fairway, after all the rain we just had. The old, Starter/Ranger in me wanted to drive up to them, and read them the riot act.

Entitled and priviledged. There are quite a few here on this forum that think that's OK.

I can totally understand wanting to walk on the golf cart path when the course is closed, just for the sake of enjoying the walk.

But the course is closed. That means - no golfing. No driving your cart, no playing. Closed. They're probably closed because they need to do various landscaping things with the grass. That requires that people NOT use it for awhile.

People complain when a course is in bad shape. Well how about - stop using it when it's closed, and give the groundskeepers a chance to get it into good shape. Or, keep it in lousy shape and stop complaining about it.

The same thing about people who think "well I have to pay a trail fee even if I'm a passenger, so I should get my own cart and drive alone" - well sure. But if everyone thought that way, there'd be a lot more problems with the courses, and they'd be whining even more about it.

I was absolutely positive that this older generation (those people in their 70's and 80's) are the ones who taught MY generation to do the right thing, simply because it was the right thing to do. Maybe they've forgotten in their old age.

People need to be held responsible and lose their golf privileges for doing things like this. Why they think they are better than the rest nobody knows.

If the course is closed, it means there aren't any ambassadors on duty there. Or anyone else. They get away with it because who's gonna stop them?

One of the many problems with the entitled and priveledged here in the villages. Not caught and not dealt with accordingly. No enforcement of any rules.

A call to community watch might solve the problem.

Community Watch does not enforce... only watches and reports. Probably Rec Services or whoever owns the golf courses would have to call local law enforcement.

Honestly who cares? It’s not a big deal. It’s part of what they pay for in their amenities. I don’t agree with driving on the fairways when wet, but if people are on the cart path and playing and still have daylight I see no problem. The people out here that are over reacting to this are probably folks that still have masks on! Lighten up people!

Caught and dealt with accordingly? I think you may be living in the wrong country. Maybe China or Russia would work better for you! They’re using an amenity that they pay for. Get a clue!
