When a cart is involved with another cart, car, stand alone, or property, the Sheriff who arrives at the scene, notifies Florida Highway Patrol, who then takes over.

Our property was damaged at 3am by a 43yo just retired Marine, driving a cart, that was not owned by him. FHP arrested him, insurance from the owner of the cart, paid for damages.

Carts are considered a moving vehicle.

So golfing eagle, just because he gave 23 years of service to his country, and ended up on our lawn, doesn’t mean he made good decisions later.

Law and reality are two different things. As far as a thief. You can bet they will go after he one they have. The car owner. May you never need to find out.

Read post #16.

I don’t think he stopped for pictures or anything. IT WAS A HIT AND RUN. Assume front end damage on a white cart in Fernandina

Put an advert/letter in TV Sun newspaper.
Will get a bigger viewing than on here.
Check golf cart service and repair shops for white carts with front end damage, which I imaging the FHP are doing anyway.

Don't fall for the quick and easy conclusion to jump to. Await the facts. Innocent till proven guilty.
If any of this was true he would not have fled the fleeing makes him guilty so he could of been innocent until he fled.

Here's the applicable posts, see if you can make sense of it. And once again I have to apologize to those who posted on this thread for my naivety in thinking that a former U.S. Marine would have the honor and integrity to stop for an accident he caused with injuries. So much for Semper Fi (to those marines on this thread, I am NOT disparaging you, just those that wanted to impugn the integrity of those that were in the Corps. Thank you for your service!)

The owner of the vehicle is responsible for damages even if the vehicle was stolen? I have no knowledge of law but that just does not seem right to me.

Reform school to army at start of WW2 he became an Army ranger fighting in Italy and winning silver star on D Day going up the cliffs he was a hardened killer with many mob hits and bar fights went to the electric chair in the late 50’s in 40 years around the worlds hot spots I ran into a lot of guys who were hero’s and also bad guys, that served under different flags and continued being bad guys later in life , doing something heroic in combat doesn’t qualify you for sainthood
Periods misplaced and run on sentences make your post difficult to comprehend. I REALLY had to pay attention but did get the gist though.

Absolutely not true. The key language in most, if not all, insurance policies is the word "permission." If someone is operating your vehicle with your permission, they are covered as an insured driver by your policy. No permission = no coverage. By default, a vehicle that is "stolen" has been taken without the permission of the owner.
