Default Please help with Whirlpool oven noises

Hi -
I posted last week about an issue with our new Whirlpool Gold single wall oven. When using it for the first time last week to cook a pizza, it made a loud howling and whistling noise, and sounded like a 737 jet engine.

The Villages warranty dept. came through and sent the certified Whirlpool technician out today to check our oven noise. He says the whistling and howling noises are normal, and there is nothing wrong. We disagree! We turned off the oven about 10 min. ago, and I can still hear the whistling back in the office!

The technician suggested we find neighbors who have this same oven, or walk through houses that have it and ask if we can test the oven. Since we don't have time to do all of that, I decided to post to TOTV. For those of you who have the above-mentioned oven, do you hear these noises?

The technician said we can "escalate" this to the Whirlpool rep for The Villages, which sounds like what we will likely do. He is our new "BFF" because he called last week with concern about our dishwasher (which got replaced).

If these noises are normal, it looks like we will have to shop for a new oven. But you can't hear the oven noises in the stores, so what to do?

Thanks,
Gail

Try googling this issue and you'll find several posts complaining of the noise while cooking and also during the cooling off period. Don't give up...with enough complaints there'll hopefully be a retrofit for this problem.

You are more than welcome to come and listen to ours. We have two. They have a fan but I am not hypersensitive to sound...so it is hard to know if it will be the same as yours or less. Ours are new, and Whirlpool Gold.

You have our address I think and the welcome mat is always out.

PhilnPat - Thanks for the info. I tried googling before sending this post, but didn't find anything specific about our oven. I can re-enter with the model #.

Gracie - Thanks for the offer to stop by and hear your oven. Today is Paul's first official day back to work (aka "on the laptop"), so I may have the Whirlpool rep stop by. But we will keep your offer in mind.

Gail

I read this to my husband, and his reaction was there may be an issue with the vent.

I am not too thrilled with our Whirlpool appliances.......weird oven, small fridge, horrible ice maker, plastic dishwasher

Do you have the Gold, Connie?

I think ours are fine.

We remodeled our kitchen in Ohio shortly before falling in love with TV and put in really nice appliances that were really spiffy.

I am kind of sad now that I have a very large kitchen and no family crowds to cook for. I don't need a built in refrigerator, but I loved it back in Ohio. I don't think built in refrigerators are an option in any homes here. Good thing, they are a beast to repair and costly to repair too.

Dishwashers are the one thing that superior quality stands out to me. The GE in Hadley wasn't too hot. The Whirlpool Gold dishwasher is this house does the job but I left one in Ohio that I really loved .
