Default XMAS Tree in Spanish Springs

Was at Spanish Springs a couple of nights and saw the always beautiful tree beside the gazebo. The placement of the tree beside the gazebe eliminates 25% of the viewing area of the entertainment and is so obtrusive that one can tell that it also bothers the entertainers. Who's idea was it to place it there?.....it really needs to be moved away from the gazebe so that everyone is able to see the entertainment. The outside edge of the square where it can be admired but not obtrusive would be a perfect spot.

It has been there since 2001 as far as I know.

Please don't move it. It is a perfect picture for our "Villages" Christmas cards!

Christmas trees are never obtrusive to me.

I like that there are Christmas trees in every rec center and they are all different.

there is plenty of room to put it almost anywhere else. i also have an objection to the placement of the market night vendors, when they are inside the square rather than on the perimeter. the entertainment portions of the squares are not so big, and to have these things placed within just does not make sense.
that's my opinion.

Okay, here is an example of an OP posting a complaint, and people (some) disagreeing. Some would call this bashing the OP. I call it everyone expressing his own opinion.

I like the Christmas tree but feel it could be placed somewhere that would not obstruct view of the entertainment. But it's only a month or so, so not too much deal with.

You are right. But if the OP didn't want discussion and only wanted affirmation...then she took a chance. We all take a chance and sometimes we are agreed with and sometimes we aren't.

I don't go to watch the entertainment much so I have no right to speak on this subject. I do love Christmas trees and I do know that not everyone celebrates Christmas and some Christmas celebrators aren't as nuts as I am about it.

Move it, but don't take it down, please.

No, I think "bashing the OP" consists of implying the OP has no standing on which to complain because they are new to the board, or it's their first post which is assumed by some to be fakers/trolls trying to stir up trouble where there ain't any.

Both tactics make people feel like fourth-class commenters.

Okay, to some extent I agree with you, but it is suggested by the Mod that your first post should be an introductory one in the new to the forum
section. I still think a first post that is a rant or complaint is ripe for being ignored because no one knows who the poster is or where he's coming from and therefore lacks credibility. A lot of them you never hear from again, so they aren't really interested in exchanging information.

There have been some really uber nasty first posts on this forum.

I still think the tree should be moved (trying to stay on topic).

I may probably be wrong but in the past wasn't the tree in SS square not sitting next to the stairs of the gazebo?

Seems like the entertainers are singing into the tree.

I agree with that.

Looking at the larger picture however, the whole square at Spanish Springs is set up incorrectly. The audience is facing the setting sun making watching the performers in the early evening almost impossible. I was really surprised when they renovated the square last year that they didn't correct this. They simply need to put the sound booth where the bar is on the south west corner and make the sound booth a bar.
When you go there in the early evening to watch performers, most people are sitting behind them.
I love the Villages and I love living here. I have a great deal of admiration and respect for the developer, but it doesn't seem that very much thought is put into some of these projects.
