Default Back with Comcast reluctantly after Direct-TV hike!

Received price hike from Direct-TV which was double of original quoted bill.
Enjoyed the clarity of picture but NOT 10 second delay when changing channels and of course if any weather conditions you would have to make changes to channel selection from HD to regular station. I was very clear
with Direct when signing up that I would rather have regular rate for 2 year contract than to have rates change frequently. Guess this is the game we all must play when choosing carriers....Ugh! Comcast rate was competitive for now...Who knows what the future will present... With past history with Comcast, I'm sure there will be many representative calls in my future..Sure wish Magic Jack would come up with TV coverage.

I feel your pain. I had Directv and now am with DISH.

Rates are more resonable and no varying of rates, from month to month. It's a long story but I would never go back to Directv.

If only DISH had phone and internet, then I would be happier. CenturyLink is not my favorite provider.

Default I hear Brighthouse is great...

Isn't Brighthouse and Comcast one in the same now???? I'm sure we all have to "do the dance".. Do you remember the "old days" when the bill stayed the same. (To tell you the truth, I don't remember those days either)

I had the same rate hike from DirecTV. I called and asked how I cancel the service after my 2 year contract expired. She asks why I want to cancel service. I say you raised the price. She lowered the price to below what I had been paying which was a $50 reduction so I signed up for another year. We love DirecTV so it was a no brainer. Next year I will call again.

MikeV, that is exactly what we do.

We have had DirecTV for 15 yrs and end up making a call about every 6 months when the rates bump up. The Customer Retention dept is very good and will give you a better package with lower rate.

Last year they gave us free NFL football pkg. This year we got the NBA pkg. We do love DirecTV's programming and clarity.

Playing the "rate game" isn't much fun, but it's the same way with cellular service, and internet providers. Loyalty doesn't mean as much to businesses these days as a new customer does.

This is exactly what everyone I know, including myself, have done after the initial contract period expires.

Angry Had a New One

I had a new one with Direct TV and will probably not renew after my contract is up. Took an extended vacation and before going called Direct TV to make sure I would not miss the payment timing. Told don't worry it would only be a 3 day
difference and it was fine. Got home and received a bill that said I was late and added $5.00 to the bill. I told them I sent the payment in the day we returned. I could almost overlook this terrible customer service but the bill they sent also added in the next payment due in December and if I didn't also include that payment my service may be cut off before the end of November. In other words I must pay the bill before it is due or my service would be stopped. I can't add anything more to this since it is so outrages there are no words to add to their greed. This is a great example how far a company will go with their "greed" and have no limits. A critical question is if not one employee had the courage to
escalate the greed to higher management does that identify the culture of the corporation and what to expect?
