From the factory, they come with a 396 right? When I was a young man my girlfriends brother had one and let me drive it a couple of times. Heavy duty clutch for sure. It was a beast.

Depends which version 396 it had, 325 hp, 350 hp or the elephant 360 hp solid lifers 11 to 1 396 which was more like 400 plus hp, it was the bad boy on the street. The problem with them you has to keep it tune which included adjusting the lifters regularly or it turned into rattle can and soon ran like crap or bent pushrods. Few dealers could put vette 427s in them or you could buy one over the counter and install it. L88s was very rare in anything but vette’s and few had them.
