Default Best place in TV to: View the Perseid Meteor Shower of Aug 2017 is??

Perseid Meteor Shower 2017

The meteor shower's actual peak is around 1 p.m. EDT Aug. 12, which means that the night before and the night after will both have good rates, the show would be slightly better in the predawn hours of Aug. 12, but that there'd be a decent show both nights.

Expect to see possibly a couple a minute. Unfortunately, a 3/4 Moon will affect optimal viewing. Look to the Northern skies.

IMHO, any house that backs to a golf course (no lights) should be a good location.

The darkest place around here will be on one of the larger golf courses away from the streets and homes.

South of 466A there's a golf course with few or no homes around it.

I don't know the name for sure, but it backs up to a ridge over the top of which is a "repository" for discarded construction material, and that is why there are few homes. Is it Volusia (sp)? Along Morse, south of 466A.

That would be by the 6th green and 7th tee of the Seminole 9 on Belle Glade, as well as whatever the adjacent exec course is named. My concern over the view from golf course strategy is that people will bring a blanket, lay on the ground, pay attention to nothing but the sky and then have a close encounter of the fourth kind with some nocturnal creatures-----like getting walked over by a gator or sharing the blanket with a snake.

Leave your pooch home if you go out on one of these courses at night. There will probably be coyotes out and about at that time. Especially if your dog is 15 lbs or under.

Only one or a whole bag of snakes? We'll take a pass.

With a 3/4 moon you'll have to get beyond The Villages.
