Default Picnicking in the Villages

1. What is your best location for a romantic/ scenic picnic in the Villages north of 466, accessible by either car or golf cart? My first high school crush coming for a visit.

2. Best take-out picnickable [sic] hot or cold food in the area to bring? (For example: I am partial to Walmart's Amish macaroni salad.) Any royal suggestions for: Wings, shrimp rolls, mini crab cakes, excetera excetera excetera?

Best ask if he or she is allergic to any of those items first.

Bring a couple of chairs and set them up by the pond at the entrance to Glenview.

There are picnic tables in Paradise Park, just over the cart bridge. Nice tables; there are two-seaters as well as the regular tables. Best of all, there’s a nice view of the pond.

There is a nice shady area on Morse just south of 466, near Mission Hills, near the golf cart path and tunnel. Must use a golf cart or walk. Also the gazebo at Sumter Landing is a nice area.

That is a very nice area. Was hanging out there one day and watched an eagle swoop down and snag a little duck from the pond. There is also a boardwalk that goes out to a small gazebo type area over the pond that is accessible from the Paradise Rec. center. It looks across the pond to the Hilltop executive golf course.

If you bring chairs you can set them up on the lawn behind the Sharon overlooking the pond, or on the veranda at the Hacienda Rec center also over looking that pond.

As for picnic food, I love the chicken salad from Chicken Salad Chicks in the La Plaza Grande shopping center. You can get sandwiches or bowls. Finish off your picnic with Fudge from Kilwin’s.

There is a nice place on the northern end of Morse Blvd. Just be sure it is ok with your spouse.

There is a little park just before 466 and Morse, something Oaks I think.
- Heading north, turn Right on Mission Hills Trail (right off the last round-about) and it's
right there. Believe it is only golf cart accessible or by parking in Mission Hills and walking. It's under the Oak trees and very nice.

Maybe the picnic tables on the other side of the pond behind Hacienda rec center. You can sit, eat some sandwiches, drink some wine/beer and listen to the SS square music while bird watching.

Gazebo on pond near Mark Twain library in Orange Blossom Villages. Has picnic tables and great views.
