Default Pool dimensions

Looking for actual dimensions, length and width, of neighborhood, family and sports pools. I called the recreation department and was told they do not have the information. Thanks.

Sports pools are too short (not 25 yards, CERTAINLY not 25 meters). They are also WAY WAY WAY too hot for anyone who is serious about swimming any distance with intensity.

The other pools are quote small...and even hotter.

Possibly, but if they are not that long, they are close enough I doubt most lap-swimming villagers will be too concerned. Just a simple aerial measurement shows sports pools to be approximately 25 yards long and pretty much square.

It also looks like the neighborhood and family pools are typically about 50 feet by 30 feet.

Unless you swim Masters and want to do 100x100on100...or, are going to be competing in a pool that is "on length". Just as tennis players would complain if the tennis court was not "to size", we swimmers feel the same way.

Sorry, but don't presume to speak for all people in TV who consider themselves swimmers. Or are you saying that those who don't meet your standard cannot call themselves swimmers.

And you really think that variations in pool sizes is comparable to a non-standard tennis court?!? Good one. You'll have to do better than that or you will lose all credibility.

Obviously, but - getting wet in a pool does not make one a "swimmer"

These would be SOME of the folks who are swimmers (who would care about the length of a pool).

On the same token...I could care less if a tennis court was the right size or not...

Sports pools are 25 yards, neighborhood pools (I measured) are 50 feet...I have a feeling that the rec center pools are the same size as the neighborhood pools - they sure look the same.

When swimming laps at the sports pools you do spend a large amount of your workout pushing off a wall. I do find I swim less laps here then in a reg lap lane.

Exactly! If someone is training to compete (or even best their own 25/50/100 split of "stroke X") - it is nice to have a pool that is of "Standard", and that includes the "T" before the wall so you know where to flip.

I once swam in an off length pool where the T on one side was about two feet closer to the T on the other side...kept landing my ankles on the pool deck...felt SUPER fast though doing 1.0x 100's (free) - only to hit reality in a proper length pool. Then, as long as you know it is "short" - all is good (and you cant use the pool for real Masters competitions).

The mulberry pool is set up with starting blocks. Is it longer?
