It takes about 15 seconds to retrieve the mail, OUTSIDE and another 5 seconds to get back in the car. Let's not get crazy about this.

No one is more of a proponent of mask wearing than I am. I have contributed countless posts and videos on this forum on the necessity of wearing masks INDOORS all the time. The only exception is when I'm seated in a restaurant or bar AWAY from others and am actively eating or drinking. If I can not be guaranteed of being seated away from others, I do not patronize that establishment. Since this pandemic started, I have NEVER sat at a dining table with anyone other than my husband, not even family. We called off the holidays in 2020. THAT is how strongly I feel that mask wearing is necessary, INDOORS.

As for OUTDOORS, I make sure I'm not close to anyone so always keep my distance of at least 10 feet and that includes the couple of times I have been to the squares to listen to music. Wearing a mask at the mail center???? Nah.
Dear Ms Nah.....that advice might be correct for the OLD variant of the pandemic virus. But, there is a new Virus Sheriff in town and it has 2 automatic firing sixguns, one on each hip - it is rapid firing highly transmissible virus-laden droplets at non-mask wearers.

Not a great time to let down your guard when you are just one more dose away from being highly protected from the pain and expense of intensive hospital care. Be safe, not sorry......say adios to the Virus Sheriff!

That’s not my opinion, but what my doctors tell me. I beg you to do my wife and I the favor of helping to keep us well. Please just wear a mask whenever you’re indoors or even outdoors if you’re near other people
I will take that pledge to save your life. You are worth, at least, a little inconvenience to me!

Really? The President's executive order is asking us to wear a mask even if we are not anywhere near people? I don't think he would ask that of the American people. It's just silly.

Aren't we talking about the mail centers here in The Villages? They are OUTSIDE and many times there is no one around. No, I won't wear a mask OUTSIDE when no one is around or anywhere near me. Sorry, I just won't do it.

Good one, bears repeating.

Easy peasy........I step back, put up my hand and kindly ask for the person to give me space. I've done it lots of times, even when I'm wearing a mask indoors. I do not let anyone get close to me, even neighbors I have had to ask to keep their distance from me. I always make the first move to move away. It is one of the best ways to protect yourself from this virus.

I've had a woman roll her eyes at me when I asked her to move away from me when I was already sitting on the stone wall at Spanish Springs town square. I let her know right away that we are supposed to stay at least 6 feet away from others and DO NOT ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME!!!!!! She did as I asked. I have no problem speaking up for myself.

No, not stubbornness---- common sense and rational thinking. You can continue to worship at the altar of the holy mask, blind to the fact that masks have both their uses AND limitations, blind to the fact that there are places masks should required and places that they are useless. Re-read the posts on this thread---there are people who think you should wear a mask because it is easy, there are still some that think they are protecting themselves with a mask, and now there are "new strain" fear mongers. Remember the recommendations-----social distance at least 6 feet and wear a mask if that is not possible. NOT wear mask all the time and then social distance if you can. It's becoming a new religion, only crazier than the moonies or the hari krishnas

It really isn't that difficult, if you will be near someone outside your family/pod/bubble for more than a few seconds then wear a mask. If you are alone in your car or walking down a trail or grabbing your mail, then wearing a mask is helping no one. If you pass someone walking on the trail or grabbing mail and don't stop to talk then a mask is helping no one. But if you stop to talk, put the mask on; it really is that simple.

The virus is contagious but it isn't like childhood cooties, you don't catch it by simply walking past someone. I've seen people step off the sidewalk and into the golf cart lane to avoid walking past me on the sidewalk - the virus is contagious and deadly but not as deadly as being hit by a car.

Some people need to spend more time thinking about when masks make sense and less time demanding others wear masks from the moment they wake up.
Always better safe than sorry.

Have you gone to the town squares to listen to music? I can count on one hand how many people wear masks. Same for the outdoor bars at the restaurants in the squares. This is why we have gone to the squares to listen to music only twice. Once we sat in our golf cart the entire time and the other time we were distanced from others at least by 10 feet. I won't be going back any time soon because people don't seem to understand the concept of social distancing.

ALL rules are imperfect as are ALL human beings or their social organization.

Hospitals are suing some patients for their CV stay (if they live).

Vaccines will NOT reach 80% of Americans until around June at best case prediction and Dec by some predictions. So, what are we left with "sports fans". We are left for the next months with masks and social distance. If that does NOT work, then it is BACK to LOCKDOWNS - not back to a normal future. England is MANDATING a SEVERE lockdown and it has NOT STOPPED this NEW variant. So, "sport fans" if you do NOT want a SEVERE lockdown with no nightly square entertainment and no golfing for eagles, then logic says you should moderate your behavior and do NOT even ever question what the medical experts say, "wear the damn mask". As Dick Cheney said, " real men wear masks". Do NOT question V.P. Cheney!!!!!!
I will most certainly wear a mask in all indoor spaces and outdoor spaces when social distancing is not feasible. I will not wear a mask OUTDOORS when picking up my mail when it takes me seconds to get my mail and get back into my car. If anyone looks like they are coming near me, I move away. It really is a simple to avoid people at the mail center.
