That means dogs are forbidden at that postal station.

Hmmm, I thought that line through it meant they changed their mind and to ignore the sign.

Ok, here is a “logical explanation”:

- You say: “I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods”

- ‘Postal centers’ are in the ‘neighborhoods’

- Therefore, one can walk their dog at the postal centers.

YOU ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION!

First, I love dogs, have had many, man’s best friend
1. Why do you drive your car or cart up to the postal center to do their business and for no other purpose. I see the same people do this three or four times a day.
2. Why is it that you come to get your mail and get your dog out of your cart or car to do their business?
3. Why do you drive your cart and let the dog try to keep up with you along the street knowing you can not get out and pick up the business?
4. Why don’t you walk your dog to do their business in your own yard?

I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods and am even acceptive if they have to do business ( you never know when nature is going to call) in my yard, as long as they pick it up. We all need exercise and fresh air, our pets included.

Am anxious to hear only from those that use the above as a common practice. If you do not have anything nice to say with a logical explanation, please do not post. My understanding is that the postal center is for a place to pick up your mail, socialize with neighbors and enjoy the amenities adjacent such as shuffleboard etc. They are amenities provided and paid for by the residents, they are not dog parks.
Thank you.
You are totally correct!!!!!!

90% of the mail we get now days is trash. In this day and age we do bills and most transactions on line.
We could do very easily with mail delivery once or twice a week. This way we will not have all the traffic at the mail houses with all this worry and concern that comes with picking up the mail.
The USPS loses billion$ every year but that is a whole different subject.

If you want an answer to a specific question/questions from the same individual you see at the postal station stop the individual and ask the question face to face. I’m sure you will get an answer. Probably not the one you are looking for. Man up.

I guess people like to walk their dogs where the dog gets to walk in all kinds of crap then have it jump up in their cart or on their laps! The Villages Florida

If you stop and think for a moment you can come up with several reasonable choices. Irresponsible pet owners. Cleaning up is distasteful and they don't want to do it. Not in their yard. At least it's not anyone's yard. Entitlement. Any or all of these could apply. But you're on a fools errand if you are looking for a serious answer on this forum. Like Spiro Agnew characterized, the majority are "nattering nabobs of negativism."

I believe people take their dogs to beautiful open spaces as we all pay amenity fees that include open spaces. Currently, dog parks are closed. I don't go to dog parks because there are too many people and dogs and my dog gets distracted by other dogs. We do walk our dog in our neighborhood as well. And we always pick up his poop and discard it back home. Those areas also allow a dog, on leash, to run a bit, something they really can't do on a walk in a neighborhood or in their own yard. Those areas are for everyone's pleasure.

Is it possible there are people who don't understand what a picture of something (such as a dog) with a line through it means? Just a thought.

Probably because some people complained about dogs crapping in the grass areas of the postal stations north of Route 44. When they started building the new areas, TV management decided to ban dogs from the recreation areas like Willow Tree.

Since the mail boxes are within the recreation areas, I guess that means you cannot have your dog with you when you go to check your mail.
