Who told you there were signs?
There is a sign at the Linden postal station clearly showing a picture of a dog on a leash with a line through it. It is at the bottom of the sign for the Postal/recreation area.

We take our dog with us to the post office every day. She knows where she's going when we say "let's go get the mail". We always pick up after her and bring it home. She especially likes it when other dogs are there. Dogs like to socialize too! Have a great day. Be safe. 🥰

I have a poop bag dispenser on her leash. I wish I could say they about everyone in my community but sadly I cannot. It is so annoying to everyone who is civil. My dog has free access to our yard, but I will continue to take her to the postal station. I am uncertain as to why you find fault with that especially since you are a dog lover like me. When I was looking at houses here my realtor told me that a dog was the best way to make friends here. Perhaps you can explain why this bothers you because I honestly don’t understand.
Your comment about sums it up, you and many other dog owners treat the mail station /rec areas as a dog park which they are not!
Read the dog owner comments and you will realize why many residents feel the postal staion/rec areas have become dog parks!

They do it so they DON'T have to pick up their doggie's poop. I've seen it many times at my postal station.

Default Decline of quality of life.

1. I am not a novice user of TOTV. I spend my days playing golf, pickleball, walking and a member of many clubs here in TV. I live on the golf course with a pool and lanai which to me, along with all the other things life has to offer in TV, is heaven on earth. Being home now, I was curious to find out what the attraction was to taking a dog to the postal center surroundings to do their business.

2. I live adjacent to the postal center and have a clear view of the Postal Center, amenities area, parking lot and the pool, along with the golf course that backs up to it.

3. When I first moved here, it was a gathering place for all the neighborhood to enjoy. We would get out and sit on benches, watch the sunsets, place shuffleboard and corn toss.

4. Over the years, they have replaced the sod four times. No one goes there anymore because it has become a dog park. We don’t take our grandchildren up there anymore because it is crowded and the residue from dogs urinating and defecating is not a healthy environment for them to play in the grass and pick up corn bags.

5. Now, with limited access at certain times and little monitoring, some dog owners are now letting their dogs loose on the golf course playing frisbee and doing business on the greens.

You are right, I don’t need to be posting on TOTV, although I have an extensive career and a PHD, I obviously do not know how to word things, even though no matter how I worded my post, something tells me the results would have been the same.

In closing, if any of you frequent users of TOTV can tell me how and if I can close this thread, I would be deeply appreciative. Proud to be known as the nice guy, loved by family and respected by friends and colleagues. Makes for a wonderful life.
Items 3, 4, 5 tell it all. Your experience is nothing new. It is an example of how one group of individuals take over something and subvert it for their own purpose rather than the purpose it was intended for. If not corrected immediately they assume that it is now their right to use as they see fit and they become offended and aggressive in defending their usurped turf, not unlike a gang taking over a neighborhood. Imagine a group of dog owners taking over the pickle ball courts because they provide a safe, enclosed place for dogs and turning them into dog parks. They would have no clue why the pickle ballers would object to sharing their space. Same clueless mentality.

We take our dog to the postal station everyday. He loves going there and my husband can run with him in the grass we don’t use dog parks due to health risks to dogs from other dogs. We don’t let our dog run i
On the hot road surface. Because we don’t want his paw pads to get burned. Look this up online and you will see how painful it is for your dog. The grassy area by the mailbox I’d perfect for our dog to run on a leash. We pick up any deposits he makes and bring them home to flush them away we do not throw them in the trash can at the postal station nor would we find that acceptable. Remember our dogs need to get out and get exercise just like we do if you are respectful of the area you take your dog snd the people who are around I don’t think it matters much where that is.

Your first paragraph says it all...you use the postal station as a dog park, and are you that naive to believe that no other dog owners are using that station to!
Some of the dog owner rationalizations are simply unbelievable!

There is also a picture of a bicyclist with a line through it and a picture of a golf cart with a line through it. Do you really think that a community that bills itself as a golf cart community would ban golf carts at the postal station? Get serious, that sign is at the entrance to the shuffleboard and corn toss area and those items plus dogs are barred from that area.

Since the mail boxes are within the recreation areas, I guess that means you cannot have your dog with you when you go to check your mail.
Using your logic bicycles and golf carts are also on that sign so they are banned from the postal station. Do you really believe that?

The first post from Fisherman never said you cant bring your dog to pick up your mail! Just pick up their crap!! No matter where you are ! I'm sure if your dogs do their business in your backyard , I'm sure you pick it up. Have the same courtesy for others. No one wants to look at poop, let alone step in it (Is that good luck)? LOL
Sorry I didn't follow your" Do not respond if it doesn't pertain to you" After reading some of the responses, I couldn't help myself! haha

I don't have an answer but I entirely agree with you. My little girl does her business in our yard, pick it up and then take her for a walk.

i'm only going to comment on the point of someone 'walking' their dog outside the golf cart while they ride inside: i've seen these people! it's a man & woman with a small pom-corgi type dog that always looks exhausted. they're riding all around the area while the poor dog has to keep up alongside them

Default Dogs I love, it is the owners I can't stand.

First, I love dogs, have had many, man’s best friend
1. Why do you drive your car or cart up to the postal center to do their business and for no other purpose. I see the same people do this three or four times a day.
2. Why is it that you come to get your mail and get your dog out of your cart or car to do their business?
3. Why do you drive your cart and let the dog try to keep up with you along the street knowing you can not get out and pick up the business?
4. Why don’t you walk your dog to do their business in your own yard?

I am perfectly okay with people walking their dogs in the neighborhoods and am even acceptive if they have to do business ( you never know when nature is going to call) in my yard, as long as they pick it up. We all need exercise and fresh air, our pets included.

Am anxious to hear only from those that use the above as a common practice. If you do not have anything nice to say with a logical explanation, please do not post. My understanding is that the postal center is for a place to pick up your mail, socialize with neighbors and enjoy the amenities adjacent such as shuffleboard etc. They are amenities provided and paid for by the residents, they are not dog parks.
Thank you.
I love dogs. I have enjoyed the companionship of dogs since a young boy. It is some owners who give dogs a bad name. I have found when you have this ongoing problem it is a good idea to get a good "game camera" from an outdoor store or mail order. The higher megapixel the better. Record the offenders and post the pictures, or file a complaint with the authorities. Perhaps they will get their act together.

You have hit the nail on the head. Dog owners and their self serving actions have taken over. They are the undesirables that took over our neighborhoods. Mob mentality.
Will this ever end???
