Default Why so secretive about new neighborhoods?

Curious to understand why they are so secretive about building new neighborhoods such as Southern Oaks? Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

a) Does Macy's tell Gimble's?

b) I'm sure the plans for new neighborhoods "evolve" from concept to planning to construction. Probably better not to promise X and deliver Y, lest they get thousands of posts on TOTV complaining

c) They're under no obligation to tell us anything

I wouldn't say anything until all the plans were complete. Land values would make doing it impossible if you announced anything before that. How else can you control the commercial space land values? There long term model is not selling homes, it's owning all the retail space that supports all those homes. This is why we will probably never have a Costco here. The two business models are in complete conflict.

Plus that's the way the Developer operates......and that's not a bad thing. It also makes for great speculation and rumors which is another form of entertainment here.

It may be your interest or concern, but it is not your business. It is their business, their money and their plans.

Yes, there was indeed collaboration between Macys and Gimbels! Didn't you ever watch Miracle on 34th Street?

I don't think it's being 'secretive' as much as simply not worrying at all about people knowing until it gets much closer to marketing time.

Most of the planning work was done by previous owner and approved by City of Wildwood in 2012. The Villages bought the property in Jan of this year.
