Default Shells at Sanibel Island.

Has anyone been to Sanibel in the past few months? Want to bring a friend there but the last time I was there, 2017ish, the shells just were not there. It was after a hurricane ravaged the area. Curious if anyone has been there in the past few months and if the shells are abundant again. Thank you.

We just got back from Sanibel after staying at the Island Inn for four nights. We kayaked at Tarpon Bay, rode bikes, had some great seafood, and had a very nice vacation.

The shelling was not good at all. Most of the shells were bleached and broken. The beaches where we stayed were very narrow, soft, and sloping and not enjoyable to walk.

We just got back last week and have been going there for 40 years. You will find it as beautiful (and shelly) as it always has been. Good time to be there. Restaurants are not crowded at all and their economy could use the help.

Thanks for your responses. I was afraid the hurricane changed the structure of the Sanibel beaches and tidal flow, reducing the shelling activity. Hoping it was back to normal. Thanks. Will still plan an overnight trip there.
