That's not correct, the teller is clueless. Writing a check, you should be writing it to a person, however never say never. We are getting closer to where - no debit card - no nothing. Even my 95 yr old mother has had one for decades.

Typically, a joint account is one where either party can write a check against the account. So, why couldn't you just write another check on "her" account and withdraw the money? Unless you have a different type of joint account.

if it was citizens, you don't need to write out a check, just fill out the checking withdrawal form available at the little desks as you walk in. they are blue/white. why waste a check when you don't have to?
