Default Propane delivery for in-ground tanks

Which company do you use for propane delivery for an in-ground tank? Has anyone had a delivery recently? Can you comment on the service, extra fees, price? Have prices fallen recently?

We had a recent delivery @$3.50 a gallon from Suburban Propane.

The service is good. They come by on a regular basis to check the tank and fill it when it is less than half full. We don't even notice them coming. We get a notification left at our front door.

The initial fill we got a good discount for owning our own tank. They advise they are giving us a continued discount of some sort for this reason (as they advise that since you own your own tank you can get propane from any vendor.)

Suburban is almost the only propane vendor around. We were interested to get a competitive price, and reached out to Amerigas out of Ocala via their website, and they have not responded to our inquiry. Your post may spur me on to give them a call. If all things are equal, I would not change.

We would also be interested to know of other vendors and pricing. Thanks!

FLsun,

Do a search on this site, try using the word propane, as there was a long discussion regarding local propane deliveries and prices.
Hope this helps.

If you do a Google search you will find the current average price of of home delivered Propane. It was about $1.95 last month. Suburban charges twice that. The manager told me to try and find a better price (I.e. we have a virtual monopoly and we know it). If you find a better source please let us know. Suburban Propane is a rip off.

I would suggest calling the national number for Suburban Propane. I did and the lady said their best price was $1.80 a gallon and would check with her manager to see if she could offer that. She came back and said he said no but she could take 50 cents a gallon off the price.
