Default property insurance

I just received my property insurance bill for 2019. Since 2015, the premium has escalated by over 60%! I have had no claims during this period. Are others experiencing this huge jump in their property insurance????

Meet with your agent, discuss coverage and options. Shop around.

Yes, we did also. We use Villages Ins in LSL. Met with them and changed companies. Saved about $200. Also adjusted our golf cart(s) coverage. We originally insured when they were new and valued at +/- $10,000. Now that they are older their covered value has decreased. Remember Ins co will reimburse only for the current value, not the declared value. More savings.

Ours went up less than $100 and we shopped around, the best we could find was $30.00 cheaper and felt it wasn't worth switching for that little of a savings. We have Travelers Insurance through TV.

Time to shop for new insurance, and let your current agent know that you are.

Up over $300 this year. Dropped American Integrity and went with ASI (thru Progressive) exact same coverage and saved almost $400 for 2019.

Did find this interesting when questioning the agent about the increase....I was told we won't be able to get a new policy anywhere else because of the age of our roof (2003). I guess everyone North of 466 is gonna need a new roof soon. BTW, Progressive said the roofs are good for 20 years.

The world and appraisers think your home has become more valuable. You can sell it and move to a place where homes drop in value...………………...or

I am just kidding. Please don't move. We are up and coming here.

We made the mistake of shopping last year, ended up with a D rated company, yes we did save money, but may have had major problems if we had a claim. Just started shopping again, but this time will check insurance company rating FIRST.

We've had the same insurance for 5 years with Allstate agency in Lady Lake. Got quotes from Villages ins and they couldn't touch it.

Thanks all for your replies! I have American Integrity and I will check out Progressive. American Integrity went up 35% just this year. That is nuts. Their reply? "All insurance has gone up".

Insurance rates are not based on the resale value, they are based on cost to rebuild.

The age of the roof may have an impact on your insurance. My understanding is that some insurers increase the premium significantly when the roof is about 15 years old.
Review each line item as the amount of coverage may be higher than you need.
Yes shop the policy.

It would be helpful when discussing important things such as insurance, if the poster would mention the agent/company they used and the insurance company they changed from and went to.

Has anyone received a quote from Esurance (online)?
I know if you bundle types of insurance (auto, sinkhole, household, etc.) you will get a better price. I think most companies will do this also.

I called Progressive and they are at their limit for policies in this zip code and to try back in a few months! I've never heard of a company turning down business.
