Default Kudos To The Villages Firefighters

Tonight as I was walking my dog around 9 p.m. I noticed a kildeer frantically flying around a storm drain on Pinellas place. Upon further investigation I saw 2 babies had fallen inside the drain and they were calling for their momma.

When I got home I tried calling the non emergency phone number for the fire department only to find it after business hours.I then called Community Watch and let them know what I had found .Long story short about an hour later a fire truck pulled up to my house. After showing them where the drain was three young fire fighters pulled the drain cover off the drain and fished the 2 babies out.Well done guys & gal .You went above and beyond in my eyes.

This is the second time I've witnessed this. About a month ago firefighters rescued 5 baby ducks out of a drain in the Alden bungalows neighborhood while I was working there.

Hats off to those firefighters. What a great YouTube video that could have been.

Yes, we saw them tonight in action as we arrived home! Good job in notifying them, OP.
We love our native wildlife here and love to see them survive those close calls!
Well done!!

At the bench next to the Sarasota starter shack, a momma Killdeer laid her eggs; it appears a maintenance worker put up yellow caution tape to hopefully keep people away from the nest area until the eggs hatch.
