Wifey wants a H2O softner. We are snow birds & she'd like to get one for under $600.00. Looking @ prior posts the Water Boss @ Home Depot was an option.
We reside in The village of St. James.
What type, model, brand do U reccomend, & from what store?
PLUS who did U have to install it & what was the cost to get installed?

IMHO... you don't need to spend $$$ on water treatment. The Villages' water is fine for washing and drinking.

IF you are seriously looking for a water softener, check out Kenitico. They are not the cheapest, but probably the best. If you are going to be a snowbird, you don't want a softener that cycles with a timer. Kinetico cycles based on the number of gallons of water used.

Has anyone tried Easywater? I would lie to know how you like/dislike it.

I can't comment on the local Villages installers, but we have had an Easywater conditioner in the past and it worked well. We have had four different softener brands in four houses in Ohio and all worked well. The decision came down to the current price (bid) and the expertise of the installers. Virtually all softeners now have a built in computer that measures the usage and the hardness to calculate when to recharge.

If you have gotten used to soft water it is a luxury that becomes a habit. We found the water in our Villages house to be a lot softer than up north so have (so far) decided not to install one.

Has anyone installed a reverse osmosis, under the sink water system? The water in Tamarind Grove has a very strong chlorine content. Tastes like pool water. We have been drinking our water from the refrigerator dispenser. It looks like there is not enough room under our sink to install the tank for a reverse osmosis system.

I have a Sears Elite softener/filter combination and am very pleased so far. Got the plumbing company that installed the house to install it. Unit was $ 699 on sale and installation $ 275 ( Plumber ran some extra piping which got it away from the garage door).

Whether you buy one is a personal decision but don't pay 3 or 4k from the 'Home Demo" companies.

Go to home depot and check out Water Boss. Cost around 500 dollars not installed I have one and like it. Maybe home depot will install it for you. Can be installed in less than 1 hour

We had awesome water in AL and while this water in St James is far better than other villages that we had rented in, it is still hard. Not too bad, but we like soap to lather and clothes come out bright. If you are satisfied with the soft/hard part and want to rid the chlorine, use a PUR faucet filter for your drinking water. We use one of those no matter what we think of the water .. hard or soft. Not expensive and works really well. The reverse osmosis thing removes ALL/everything from your water. We had on in one of our houses and it really was not very satisfying. Water tasted very bland. And they are not cheap!
