Default Ft Myers recommendations

Hi! What a hot Saturday! I'm looking for a recommendation of a place to stay in Ft Myers area for probably a week...my summer vacation. I'd like to take the ferry to the Keys. Would like a quaint place on the water, with a pool, maybe some food close by or the ability to cook...clean, neat, quirky and not too gawd-awfully expensive. Would like to go the end of July. I've been on the usual sites, haven't found exactly what I want and thought you sages might know of a few hidden gems! Stay cool!

Just to the north of there is Sebastion. I recomment Capt. Hirams. They have a great seafood restaurant and rooms right on the water. Not very quaint though. That area, Sebastion is known for surfing and clamming.

Just returned from a beach wedding at Fort Myers Beach and stayed at Pink Shell Resort. Stayed in a "Gulf Front Studio" room and it was wonderful. Recommend it highly. Very clean, great amenities, great pools and on the ocean. They have a web site if you want to see more Fort Myers Beach Hotels - Fort Myers Beach Resorts - PinkShell.com

t fields' suggestion sounds great. I would also recommend these:

We have always had good luck with ****.com. (Vacation Rentals By Owner) We've used them for rentals many places in the US, France, Australia, and Italy. Many choices, cheaper than hotels, full kitchens, etc. Very reliable as they would be kicked off if not honest. Also try FlipKey and Home Away. FlipKey is affiliated with Trip Advisor. HomeAway and **** are related now.

There's also airbnb, but they charge a booking fee which I think is high. The others don't.

If you want to go just a little farther..over the causeway to Sanibel..there's a very nice Holiday Inn resort that's right on the Sanibel beach. Very nice place. We have enjoyed it a number of times over the year.

Check out Superior Small Lodging. Small privately owned motels/hotels. Many choices on the West coast.
