When someone is renting a home in The Villages, they can purchase a Villages ID from the home owner for $50 which is a pass through cost as that is what the Villages charge the owner to assign them for that property address. They could also get a guest pass from the owner. Especially if only there for a week or so.
Does anyone know what the differences are between the two ID's? What privileges each type of ID allows? Is there more benefit to one type of pass or the other? The intent for a guest pass is for guests in your home. But if you had friends staying in your home for a week, would a guest pass allow them to do everything the Villages ID's do?

I know that if a renter wants to golf, he needs the $50 ID. Not sure what other differences there are.

But someone can golf with a guest pass as well. I have a few times in the past.

A guest pass will not allow you to make a tee time using the Villages tee time system. You can call Championship courses on the day of play and pick up an open tee time. Guests can not use sports pools, enter Katie Belles and sometimes there are restrictions at clubs and activities.

With a resident pass you have all the privileges of a TV owner. Guest passes allow you to play the exec courses, but you must pay $10 per round plus the trail fee if you ride. Guests can play the championship courses at a higher rate than residents. Guests can go to classes at the rec centers, but if the room is full or fills up they will be dismissed in favor of residents. Guests cannot use the sports pools.

Another important point is that if you are in TV yourself, a guest pass is the only option for your guests. You have to surrender your own ID to get the resident ID for someone staying in your home.

all of the above is correct, except that you CAN make a tee time reservation as long as the owner provides you their resident id no. and PIN. I think you may have lower priority, but you will also, at the beginning, have 0 points.
We frequently have dog/house sitters when we go on vacation - for about a week at a time. The avid golfers (during the season) get their money's worth from the $50 guest id's - not sure it's worth it during the off-season, when championship golf is so cheap. Depends also if they are sports pool users. During the season, most golfers will get their money's worth from the $50 guest id's, especially if both of them play golf. |

Bosoxfan probably means that residents (or those with the $50 resident guest passes) get priority at popular exercise classes at rec centers. For instance, those with guest passes during the season and probably thru mid-to late April, have to wait and see if yoga classes fill up with residents before they are allowed in (it usually fills up). I'm sure there are others as well.
