Default Abandoned houses

I've seen 3 or so abandoned brand new (never lived in) homes very near The Hampton Inn on 466. I have heard sketchy info: A non villages developer built them on spec. and for some reason abandoned them with streets and infrastructure intact.
Does anyone know the true back story? It would seem that TV could buy the land between the Hampton Inn and the financial building, and raze the houses, and build their own. Any thoughts?

Don't know why there has not been further development in that area but just FYI, most of that land you are speaking of is owned by L&N Land Investment Inc, and Village Park Developers LLC.

Driving by at 45mph I never noticed the houses. Interesting---how long have they been there?

There is abandoned properties rite here in the villages we have two on our street in mira mesa and they look terrible.. and we cant believe that the villages cant make the banks dispose of these homes instead of letting them sit and rot and make our value go down because of them..

They have been there for about 3-5 years.

Is this it? (the red pin is Hampton Inn).
That looks smack dab in the middle of TV. How did that happen?

Jim, because they aren't directly on 466. You have to pull into the Hampton Inn hotel parking lot and go around the back and follow the road back there.. You will find them there with tile roofs and obviously well built and NEVER lived in... and streets all around them. I don't think they have anything to do with The Villages, but they are a curiosity. They have red tile roofs.

How interesting, never knew those homes were there. I hope someone is able to "scoop" this news and fill in those of us who don't know the story.
Inquiring minds....

I did find a picture from I don't know when which indicates this was 27.8 acres zoned PUD and was being offered by a local realtor, Betty Salas at All Villages Realty. In this picture with the "For Sale" sign, the houses are in the background so it may have been a foreclosure or short sale. Since the property abuts the private Glen Hollow Estates, I would think it was snapped up by the Morse's. THIS IS SPECULATION, please don't start a rumor...

These houses were part of a development that basically went bust. If I remember correctly the developer had conditions placed upon him in order to build on that land. After two or three extensions and continued failure to meet the conditions Sumter County finally pulled the plug and rescinded the building approvals.

According to the Sumter County current tax roles, L&N Land Investment Inc, and Village Park Developers LLC still own the properties.
