Default Many Villages have their own websites.

I meant for the title above to read;

Many Villages HAVE their own website or email group.

In the matter of immediate communication about events I know many villages or sections of villages have either a website or an email group that keeps everyone in the loop.

In our old neighborhood, there is an email group in Hadley of three streets and that group meets once a month at the Odell center for a social and it has a list of names, addresses, telephone numbers and type of car each drives.

We have a website at our current village of Laurel Valley.

I know that Virginia Trace has a wonderful website with information that is used by most of us.

If your neighborhood or village has a quick way of communicating, let us know. My point is that many of us already have a communication system of nearby homes in place. If you don't, suggest it at the next gathering and try to get it going in new neighborhoods.

It is a good way to communicate, check on each other, socialize and exchange information.

Share if your area has either an email group or a website.

One should check with their village contact person before giving out the email address to the world.

We caught the bicycle bandit through our email system in Haciendas of Mission Hills, along with the contractor who took his picture. When one of the neighbors who received the email about the theft emailed us all back to say he had actually talked to the person and noticed that his tee shirt had the name of a local establishment of it, we called that place and found out it was where he worked and he was arrested. All because we had that email communication. The web site is great for keeping everyone up to date, especially since we lost control of the post office display where we used to be able to easily post things.

Good catch Bogie.

But couldn't we say, as Jane did above just the area or village that has such a way of communicating?

I know they do in Harmeswood, because we rented there when our second home was being built. I know St. James circle has one because our neighbors used to live there.

I think these kinds of communication systems are great and not giving access without a password is good too so that if there is a community event, bad people don't know when you are away from your house.

For almost 10 years now, I have been administering and moderating a forum, much like TOTV. It is free and has been very reliable. I do kick in a couple bucks a year to get rid of the ads. You can make it as private or as public as you wish. You can even restrict access to just sections of the forum.

If any group is considering creating their own community forum, I'd be willing to talk to you about my experiences.

I use InvisionFree.
