Default Question for long-term TV residents

So I was making my way to Aldi, and a couple of things struck me as being worthy of running by those of you who have lived here some time and know what's what.

Normally, the most exciting thing to happen on an Aldi visit is the Russian roulette of whether or not the golf-cart will make it over the bridge, but today things went well as I didn't have Mrs Fox in the cart. Not that she's heavy, you understand, but all the same...

In front of Lowe's there are maybe eight areas with white bands running across the road. I had assumed that these were where pedestrians should cross but, since over half of those present were ambling across in-between two sets of bands, often walking on the diagonal, they must be there for some other purpose.

And on arriving at Aldi I usually park on the left. Here, the white lines are painted closer together so, in my foxiness, I had assumed that this area was for golf-carts. But since there were two cars parked straddling these lines then clearly my assumption is, again, incorrect.

Not sure what your point is. People don't color in the lines nor do they walk between lines. Just not in the nature of most beasts.

Not sure of your question.

Lowe's has taken the trouble to paint eight pedestrian crossings linking the car park to the store. Yet most people cross that busy road wherever they like, often doing so diagonally. The additional distance it would take them to go straight across, at one of the designated areas, is surely worth the effort in terms of personal safety?

Aldi has taken the trouble to demarcate an area of its car park specifically for golf-carts. There are numerous parking spots for cars, yet some car-drivers choose to park in the golf-cart slots, despite it being obvious to a blind possum that the lines are considerably closer together than those in a normal car-parking space.

Just venting my spleen :-)

Haven't you yet noticed that a large majority of people (old or young) do whatever they want to and they do it wherever they want to ................. I always feel it's rather like a game of "I just dare you to hit me while I saunter across this road in front of your car ................", and "what do you mean - those rules are meant for me!" You are never going to change that mind set.

I quote Forrest Gump : stupid is as stupid does

I think you just needed to vent and didn't really ask for advice at all. That's ok, I'll give you some anyway. A mind that judges everything critically isn't a very sweet space to live in. Takes one to know one. Tryin' to chill.

Perhaps if Mrs. Fox had joined you on this excursion the two of you would have gotten a good laugh out of it!!!

That's true.

The reason I posted is that the car in front of me almost took out one of those meandering pedestrians outside Lowe's, and I got to thinking about why we put our safety at risk just to save a few seconds.

I do like your descriptive abilities!

Probably the same folks that think the multi-modal paths are short cuts for their SUVs...

Coming up on my ninth anniversary in TV. While I know a little about whereof you speak, my "generation" seems to avoid golf cart travel onto the "other side" of 441! At least, I do!

I commiserate with your concerns, nevertheless!

Just what does "your generation" find wrong with the "other side" of 441, that compels you to avoid it, since you know a little about it?

Quite possibly he is referring to access over the golf cart bridge. Something that many older golf cart drivers find intimidating. Swrinfla is a kind and gentle man, I'm sure he meant no disrespect.
