Default Colony Blvd. possible solutions

i understand that it costs 200.00 per day for the community watch to act as traffic controllers at the Colony Blvd. golf cart crossing. how about this creative and low cost solution:
1. close off Colony Blvd. to all through traffic.
2. Colony Blvd. from Morse to the last driveway entrance into the Colony Cottage Rec Ctr becomes the main and only entrance into the rec. ctr.
3. Colony Blvd ends just before the golf cart crossing.
4. From Colony Plaza Colony Blvd. ends just after the entrance to the BB &T bank.
5. Colony Plaza shopping center can only be accesses from 466A (there are 2 traffic lights already there) and several ingress points from 466A going west.

this solution would be extremely inexpensive, and could even be temporarily put into place to see how it would work. Good signage at Colony Blvd. and Morse would let everyone know that this is the the only way to get into Colony Cottage Rec Ctr.

and that's my solution. would love to hear of other solutions.

Close off golf cart crossing on Colony Blvd on north side.. Continue cart path around pond and behind Citizens bank to exit at Sembler Way. Make Sembler Way and Colony Blvd intersection a 4 way stop. Carts coming from north and heading south can go to Sembler Way and turn right onto Colony at 4 way stop and then merge into left turn lane to continue south. South side carts heading north can turn right onto Colony Blvd and travel to 4 way stop and either go straight to shop or turn left on Sembler and then turn left on new cart entrance to travel north. This way you are only crossing one lane of car traffic when making turns.

I think the best solution and cheapest at this point is a 4 way stop at that location. It seems to work at other locations in the Villages and if it doesn't work than the expense is minimal to take the signs down and do something more expensive.

When this traffic situation first became an issue the engineers looked into this very solution and deemed it as "not feasible".

Cool

The least expensive solution isn't always the best solution. The least expensive solution is to do nothing...

Let the traffic engineers do their job....

Makes sense to me. I like it. The engineers that deemed your solution not feasible probably never had to sit there and wait for traffic.

How about a single lane round-a-bout for golf carts? Close off other traffic from that intersection. The only cost would be for signing to re-route autos from using Colony for thru travel and paving a round-a-bout. Maybe adding a palm tree in the center.
