I’ve lived here for a year now. I think I’ve figured out how the 11 Community Development Districts work. I understand how the commercial property works. That all makes sense to me. What I don’t get is how the recreation centers, executive golf courses and championship courses with their corresponding country clubs work and how they will work in the future.
1. Will the championship golf courses and country clubs continue to be owned by the developer like the commercial property in the future? 2. Will the executive golf courses continue to be owned by the developer like the commercial property in the future? 3. Will the recreation centers continue to be owned by the developer like the commercial property in the future? I can’t figure out what happened north of 466. Were the recreation centers turns over to the community in the past? Is that what the Amenity Authority Committee was set up to oversee? Was it just the rec centers or did that include any of the golf courses? Thanks for any insights. |

I do not have your definitive answers ... but we attended a VCCD (Village Community Development Districts) orientation workshop and it was definitely worth the the two hours. Sessions are held every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the District Office, 984 Old Mill Run ... the office is on the 2nd floor.
No sign-ups or fees are required for this presentation. Attendees were a mix of new Villages residents (like us) and also new hirees for The Villages. I am sure your questions will he answered there. They did talk a bit about the future. Good luck. You may call 352-753-4508 for additional information.

My understanding is that the championship golf courses remain and will remain the property of the developer unless he/they decide to sell them.
The executive golf courses and rec centers north of 466 (plus the Pimlico group) were sold to the VCCDD and the bonds issued for the purchase are paid out of our amenities fee. The executive courses and rec centers south of 466 are still owned by the developer. The expectation is that once the IRS matter is concluded they will be sold to LSCDD and the resulting bonds for the purchase will be paid out our amenities fee.
