Sumter County--received it today. Actually went down $98.00; of course, that means the value of our house did as well.

I haven't done a search on this forum to see if this has been discussed before. But I'll throw it out there. I just had an interesting telephone conversation with a representative of the N. Lake County Hospital, well actually an employee of a CPA firm who distributes the revenue from the taxes we pay to this taxing authority. The N. Lake County Hospital doesn't exist, doesn't have an office or any employees, according to the person I spoke with from the CPA's office.

Anyway, has anyone else ever questioned any of the line item "Taxing Authority" on their Lake County bill from the Lake County Tax Collector Bob McKee office?

For instance, the Ambulance MSTU, ENVIRON LAND PURCHASE, LAKE CO SCHOOL BOARD, ST. JOHNS WATER MGMT, LAKE CO WATER AUTH or N LAKE CNTY HOSP.

It was very educational. I still have a lot of studing to do on the subject, but I'd like to hear what you know.

Got our first. Taxes here about the same as up North. Happier here.

No complaints.

Sandybill2.... It doesn't necessarily mean property values went down. My view is the growth of the area adds more taxible property which caues everyones amount to go down. At some point when more services are needed to cover the growth more tax money will be needed.
