Motorized shades and 6” gutters will take care of 95% of rain issues but when it rains sideways there will be some moisture on lanai floor.

Never understood why the builders don’t put gutters on houses they build. I never heard of building a home & don’t have gutters. Is it because all homes in Florida are built on cement slabs?

The problem with Hill, is they use cheap Chinese fasteners. 5 years in , they began to rust, and Hill told me I needed to do the maintenance on the screws. Obviously,the man is totally clueless. I replaced all the screws with stainless steel.

Hill's did ours in 2014. Not one issue since.

I echo comment #3. We used Stipes and would use them again. Very professional, very reasonable, and we got four estimates before choosing. We also had a few friends/neighbors recommend Stipes.

If the rain is blowing in from the a direction towards you lanai screen, you will get water going through the screen. If the rain comes from the other side, you should not get blow through and gutters will help direct the runoff away from the house.

Stipes will be putting up gutters on my lanai in August. They come highly recommended. Very reasonable.

You're right on the money with that statement.
I am a handyman and do a lot of work in The Villages and surrounding areas

The price on materials has more than doubled since this COVID bs started....and many times you can't find what you need.

Why should anybody pay for gutters they’re part of the reason you put roof shingles on a house, to keep water away from foundation. TV is the only place out of the 11 homes we had built in Ohio & Texas that they don’t put spoutings on, they’re pretty cheap!

Depending if water pools or splashes mud onto the house.

Thank you for posting about awnings. We have gutters and the wind blows sideways into the lanai in spite of it. Gutters might not be the answer for the OP, either. We had thought abut awnings and glad to learn they are effective. We had also investigated an outside-of-the-screen blind that could be anchored at the bottom.
