Default Tomorrow's commissioners meeting about outsourcing libraries

Some of you I'm sure have heard by word of mouth that the BOCC (Board of County Commissioners) and our county administrator have been looking at having a private, for-profit company manage our county library system. Info has been pretty much word of mouth as the Daily Sun has printed very little about this issue. The vote by the BOCC will be held tomorrow evening (25th) at 5:00 at Colony Rec Center. For info on this topic go to www.sumtercountyfl.gov website, click on the picture of a gavel near the top, then click on agenda.

Attachment L reviews a direct cost comparison and Exhibit 1 shows current and additional services under LSSI. Looks as if not much will be gained from going with LSSI.

The agenda then lists the next action item as termination/separation notices that will be given to all but one of the current employees.

Very little time left to review this major change, share your feelings with the county commissioners, or attend the meeting tomorrow evening.
