My rain gauge had 4.75 inches this morning. We are in The Village of Osceola Hills.

As has always been the case government is TOO SLOW to act and once they get a new TEMPORARY CASH FLOW, it never goes away. They got their increase at the end of our mini drought. As of now,with our increased rain we have more than cought up with the shortage AND ARE NOW ABOVE AVERAGE RAINFALL FOR THE YEAR.

As to the 10% increase, due to the rain, I've run my sprinklers once in the past two months. Our lawn, Empire Zoyzia, was put in only two years ago. We've added 3500 pounds of manure to our 5,000 sq foot lawn so we are not growing on beach sand as most of you are trying to do.

As to government TEMPORARY INCREASES. The lesson-remember the TEMPORARY, TEN CENT, TOLL ON THE SOUTHERN STATE. It took GOVERNMENT over 2o years to realize that with what they were paying to collect the toll they were loosing money. Then, it took several more years to remove the toll

Not really true. I have commented on this is the past. Once again, let's look at the facts. For the 12 month period ending May 31, 2017, we were at about 60% of normal precipitation. For this calendar year, we are either a bit below or a bit above normal precipitation depending on where you take the measurements. For example, in Leesberg, it appears we are a bit over but the south side of The Villages is probably 10% under normal. June was above normal but July was below normal. August will probably come in above normal by virtue of the 2-4" of rain, depending on where you measured, last night. Regardless, you don't make up for an extended dry period overnight.

The Villages management stopped by the house yesterday for a problem with some plants, and told me the STATE has determined that the water table is still LOW, and NO planting until after the water restrictions are lifted, currently scheduled for Oct 1, his comment was we need a tropical storm or hurricane to bring the water table back up to normal. So while these afternoon rainfalls help with plants and grass, apparently they are not doing much for the water table.

I am not sure if you realize this or not but Zoysia does well in sandy soils. Mine is doing very well in the sandy soil, albeit I do fertilize it 3-4 times per year.

Only after they increased it to 25 cents. People were then bypassing through Valley Stream to avoid the toll. ****ed the residents off big time.

Can anyone explain the difference between 4.5" of rain from a thunderstorm and 4.5" of rain from a hurricane???? I would think rain is rain.

To me, I think the difference rests in the weather package in which the rain is delivered. You are correct though that the quantity of fluid is the same.

What is the Difference Between Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, and Hurricanes?

Rain is rain, but how quick did you get that amount of rain? 4.5 inches in an hour may bring serious flooding. 4.5 inches over couple days is just annoying.

Of course you also risk great sub surface erosion of limestone and dolostone to give us some new windows to what’s below ground level, i.e. sinkholes.

Sinkholes when it rains like this are my greatest fear.
