Default Re-Keying Golf Cart?

Just wondered how many felt it necessary to have their GC re-keyed? GC Connection charges about $100 to do it but wondered if it was necessary? Thanks!

If you don't, it makes it very easy to steal since golf cart keys are universal to all golf carts unless you change the key type. We have had a spate of golf cart thefts but they did catch the thief. Personally, I would spend the money to have it done.

If you are going to Re-Key your golf cart you may want to seriously consider putting in a new dash..may cost $200-250 but it already includes a unique key feature, golve boxes, added cup holders plsu its looks much better...... so thats like a $100 discount! Just something to consider.....but regardless I would get the uniqe key feature however you do it.

Tis may be an option too depending on your cart. Don't know what the install process costs. It works like a car alarm, with a clicker to allow the cart to run.

How ironic is this? you pay to have a built in kill switch, almost always installed in a locked glove compartment, only problem is.....you guessed it.....one key opens all glove boxes for your particular model....Guess you shouldn't do one without the other.

I read in a newspaper article that there are supposedly 50,000 golf carts in TV for the 70,000 residents. Whatever the amount, it is high. I think the chances of your golf cart getting stolen would be pretty remote. Also, doesn't golf cart insurance cover theft?

You can buy a keyed ignition switch at an automotive store and change it yourself..........Switch cost about 13.00 dollars and its not a big deal to put in .......I changed two of mine in about 45 minutes... just make sure you disconnect the negitive cable from your batteries before you start.......
