Default Are real estate taxes based on sales price?

Can someone confirm that RE taxes are directly tied to the purchase price? Also, if someone is buying a furnished home is it prudent to take that amount off the sales price and pay it separately? It seems logical to assign the highest value to the furnishings, especially if there is no mortgage involved.

Thank you all in advance.

Taxes are bases on the assessed price of your home. It would benefit the seller to not have the cost of the furniture in the price of the home since they have to pay a transfer tax on the sale price.

So in lake county in particular, the selling price does not determine real estate taxes?
