Question Recycling Cans

I will be moving to TV the end of August and have a question. I know FL does not have a bottle bill. I consider it a shame to just throw this things in the trash. So I'm wondering you Villagers do with empty soda/beer cans?

New Englander, first a BIG WELCOME to TV, and these (cans and bottles) go in the weekly recycling pickup. You will find that trash is picked up twice a week, recycling (in the CLEAR) bags once a week, and yard waste once per week, so you do not need to worry about bottle and cans going in the trash, unless that is where you put them. BTW, some weeks we have more recycling than trash, if we are careful about where we get rid of stuff.

TV in Sumter County does indeed have once per week recycling home pickup!

I live North of 466 and The Lions Club collects cans at the postal stations. They have well marked garbage cans with lids and empty them every day.

Oh thanks for the welcome tinker. I'll also be in Pinellas. What color bags for trash and yard waste? Now, do they collect the recycle bags the same day as trash and yard waste? I assume you put the bags out the night before pick-up.

Cans, glass, necked plastic bottles and paper all go in clear trash bags.

In addition, every Publix I have been to has large collection bins for plastic bags and another for foam trays and egg cartons.

They scrap the aluminum and donate the money to various charities. I would rather toss to a charity than toss in the garbage.

You can get brown paper bags for yard waste and several locations ACE hardware, Lowes, Home Depot to name a few.
Trash can be any color (NOT CLEAR), we use the large black ones, and the smaller white ones (these fit in the kitchen trash cans).
The clear bags can usually be found at the grocery stores.
I will send you a PM.

I walk every day early in the morning, and I can attest to the fact that there are far more recycling bags than trash in my area.

Glad clear bags. Walmart and I would guess most other stores carry them.

We donate our cans to the animal hospital by Walmart on 466 (name eludes me). They collect cans and give them to the Humane Society of Sumter County.

I buy mine at Publix and they are expensive. I had to buy them recently and they are Glad Clear Recycle Kitchen 13gal - 45 for $10. If anyone knows where I can get clear plastic bags for less than that - do tell!
