Default The golden years

On one of my visits to the Villages, I was sitting at a restaurant, waiting to be waited on when the 20 year old or so waitress told us, most of the Villages were sleeping, and it was around 9 PM. As I am approaching those "Golden Years," I found that funny! What little they really know about us older folks, unless they get to be our age. As I get older, I realize I have a lot of life to live, and I have to live it now and do a good job of it.

they have an uniformed image of what they "think" older folks do/are. They have no real first hand concept and would find many of us several times their age capable of outlasting them in many things. Of course there are physical limitations, but even that doesn't stop a lot of seniors I know.

It is no different than when we first moved here and told friends and family we had moved in a "retirement community". Most had negative thoughts anout the old folks environment we moved into.....THEN....after they visited us here in TV......you all know the rest of the story!!

Can't blame them for thinking that, though. Too much closes too soon here. I'd love to see the restaurants stay open later, ditto town squares, etc. So, it's not that we go to sleep at 9:00 pm, it's that TV more or less goes to sleep at 9:00 pm (barring a few exceptions where alcohol is the driving force).

I still work and I find myself a little bit more tired than my younger coworkers. But I still want to venture out, especially when I do finally retire. Oh, how I can't wait. That is when the fun will start for me!

That would be nice if the Town Squares stayed open at least one night a little later, maybe on Friday. I am not complaining, though, I think it is great that there are these squares where you can sit around and dance if you like. They are very well kept also.
