Somewhere I saw a thread about an appliance repair service that takes away appliances that need repairs and fixes them. I am getting a new refrigerator because the icemaker does not work and about every 10 days I find water on the floor. The refrigerator part and freezer part maintain the set temperature and have no problems. I just cannot figure why it has water coming from the bottom so I’m just going to replace it. I know I can pay Home Depot or whoever I get the new one from to take it away and they will take it to the dump. I hate to do that as overall, the refrigerator works fine.

If the icemaker doesn't work, it could be that there is a leak in the icemaker reservoir where the incoming water empties into the reservoir. If so, you need a new icemaker. But, personally, if you have already decided to buy a new refrigerator, I would just let the installer haul it away. You can tell them that the refrigerator still works. It's not worth the hassle of having two contractors coming into your house.

Do you really want an amateur mover coming into your kitchen and hauling away a refrigerator? I don't.

Most people are not capable of moving a refrigerator from the kitchen to the driveway. To me, it is much easier to allow the installer of the new refrigerator to haul away the old refrigerator. Personally, I really don't care what they do with it.

If my car had an ashtray, I would be physically able to empty it. That is not the case of fixing my refrigerator.
