Default Refrigerator malfunction

My Kenmore refrigerator has developed problems. French door, bottom freezer. Freezer stays cold, Frig supposed to be 34 degrees, varies up to 50, then later back to 34. Any recommendations for appliance repair?

IMHO if the refrigerator is over 6-7 years old, and never had a problem before, I would replace rather than repair.
Cost of call outs, labor and parts to my mind may a well be put towards a new one.
Newer appliances these days are not built to last like the oldies were.

Had the same Kenmore refrigerator for about 5 years. Made by LG, which has an abysmal reputation for their compressors. Don't be shocked when the repairman quotes you $1200 to fix. Buy another refrigerator, just not an LG.

If the freezer stays cold, it doesn't sound like a bad compressor.

The unit seems to be producing the cold air needed, which comes into the freezer. The problem may be that it is not passing through to the refrigerator. The cold air comes through a vent in most units and often has a filter. Make sure the vent from the freezer is not blocked on either side and the filter is not clogged.

Right ... the refrigerator gets its cold air from the freezer compartment. There is an evaporator fan, usually behind a panel in the freezer compartment. It may be functioning erratically and not doing its job of pushing cold air to the refrigerator compartment. It's not a difficult fix once you get the part (if that is the culprit). It could also be that the vents into the refrigerator compartment are currently blocked by items or the setting (warmer/colder) has been accidentally turned too low - but, probably the fan.

Jazz board or Control board is my guess. We had to switch out our jazz board a couple years ago when the cooling was going on and off.

DeSantis worked well for me. Worth the cost of a house call to find out. Fixing it may cost less than a new refrigerator.

YouTube is your friend. Years ago our whirlpool fridge was acting up. Searched the symptom and found the mother board was bad. Don’t remember cost (maybe &100 ?) but was easy to replace myself. Gave me something to do and saved a bundle

It might be as simple as too much weight in the refrigerator door shelves preventing the door from closing as tight as it should. Try removing heavier items from the door and see if it makes a difference.

Similar to the previous comment... In my case, it was just a pull out tray that was just slightly blocked by a food item. So the pull out tray was stopping my bottom drawer from closing 100%.
