If TV residents don't think the residents of Stonecrest are upset, they should read the comments at the end of the article in the on-line Villages News.

Walk in Janet Tutt's moccasins for 48 hours. There isn't enough money in the WORLD to do her job.

(quote snipped by me)

Now that you mention it, I do recall that little detail. That being said, I'll bet the proper procedures were followed this time around. Hence the delay.

My guess: the wall was prefab and only had to go up and down once!

I think it may hurt our Stonecrest neighbors feelings but I would be for limiting extra golf carts especially during the high season. We have enough traffic to deal with without another whole subdivisions golf carts further causing more traffic.

I think I am for the gate keeping out the folks from Stonecrest in their carts.

Are you?

And we have old and treasured friends who live in Stonecrest.

I agree, but I forget how they're getting around the "have-to-have-access-to-a-public-road" ordinance.

I don't think they should have access to our paths. The home page for Stone crest has an interesting paragraph. They are using The Villages to sell their homes:
"At the Stone Crest Country Club you can enjoy two golf courses, play on our lighted tennis courts and pickle-ball courts, swim in the heated indoor pool or any of the outdoor pools throughout the community. Play shuffleboard, bocce ball or softball on our new softball field. Get in shape at the community gym. And take a short golf cart ride to all the amenities in The Villages, including shopping, healthcare and entertainment."

I think we've had a discussion before about that statement. Is that the official web site for Stonecrest, Stonecrest Country Club - Armstrong Homes - Active Adult Living Florida ??

The statement is very (intentionally, perhaps) misleading, since "amentities" as TV describes them are much, much more than the shopping, healthcare, and entertainment that they list. One might think a Stonecrest resident could come do our classes, play the courses, etc.

Guess they will have to change their web page. I just went to it as well---the whole page is about being "rural" without hustle and bustle of larger communities but states many enjoy living there because it offers nearby conveniences of life in The Villages. "While the area of Summerfield is fairly rural, The Villages provide conveniences and amenities which are accessible to StoneCrest Residents via golf carts"--The Villages contain approx., 200 retail stores, 60 restaurants., etc.

Well we all hail the snowbirds for supporting our local economy - what about the Stonecrest residents that come to eat, shop, and go to the movies. I just don't get it!
It's not like they are trying to take us over - they just want to come here on their golf cart and spend some money. If you think Stonecrest offering up TV along with what they have to offer is a problem, maybe you should have taken advantage of it. I don't believe they are coming in droves and would really even be a blip on the radar screen as far as additional traffic, but maybe the few bucks they want to spend would keep one of our merchants out the red!

I guess I don't understand this statement. Why would I take advantage of it if I think it's a problem?

Outsiders can come in their cars if they want to access the stores, restaurants, and entertainment of TV. In the winter months, extra golf carts are a problem.

As I have stated before, I just don't get the animosity toward these folks. I was once an "outsider" that spent thousands of dollars annualy at the eateries and golf courses. Sure I drove on your roads and carts paths. But I also helped these places stay open during the slow months. But as a current owner in TV, I say.....Let'em in.

You are absolutely correct, You just don't get it! It's the use of the paths, paths, paths that appear to be the problem. (sorry about the echo-effect) We love them as neighbors and welcome them with open arms to all of our non-amenity supported facilities and activities.
