Prepare for the worst.
It very well could be 1.5 years.
Hope for the best,
A month or two off at the end of summer.
Then back inside till next year some time.

We have brilliant people working on this around the clock. I don’t know what more we can hope for.

Chatbrat, I hear you and know what you mean. I have been stuck offshore for extended periods of time when they couldn't come and get us because of weather or helicopter in for maintenance.

I just read in the Daily Sun sports section, what's left of it, that the PGA tour will resume June 11-14 at Colonial CC in Ft. Worth. They'll play without any fans, and said they probably continue without fans for about a month.

I learned one thing about being in a submarine. My friends husband was in and worked on the nuclear powered subs. My friends wife told me don’t worry about throwing eggs away when they expire. She told me husband was down there 3 months at a time and still ate the eggs no problem. As for me the worst I ever had to suffer was 6 weeks in basic training where for weeks you couldn’t leave the base. I know USAF. Everyone says we are the soft force. Say what you want but during a fire fight the sweetest sound is a plane flying in spraying a bunch of ammo to let the guys make their way out. Yep they were blessing that plane then lol. Not the same. I admire you guys who can go down in the subs for months with nowhere to go. That must really drive you stir crazy.

We're a silly people. We are the laughing stock of the world. Our main concern is toilet paper? I' m still socializing, having dinners, no masks, etc. Hasn't effected me.

My father was on the USS Princeton on October 24th 1944 when a 550lb bomb crashed in the deck and started a fire (it didn't explode right away). He suffered burns on his body and spend some time in the water waiting for rescue. Some time later the bomb exploded, killing many on deck (along with some from another ship, which I forget the name right now).
He died at 52 and I never heard him complain about anything, I guess he understood nothing is worst that loss of life.

You prefer the death of you or a loved one, because it seems you are all about the money at the expense of lives.

The other ship might have been the USS Franklin-it was the ship with most lost of life in WWll that did not sink--the ship actually sailed backwards to the Brooklynns Navy Yard for repair--during its repair, shipyard workers were still finding bodies

OP, some folks on this site tend to love to “bite” the messenger. No problem as many of us we have broad shoulders. Bottom line: We have things pretty nice here in The Villages. Go for a walk, a bike ride, play a bit of golf if that is your game and you can safe distance with your neighbor. Being retired here really is a “piece of cake” compared to what others in this great country are going through.
