Default Remote sprinkler controller

I think this may have been discussed in a post awhile back. Looking for up-dates.
We are seasonal (6/6), here now and looking to install a Remote Sprinkler
Controller.
Considering getting an Orbit 57946 B-Hyve unit, from Amazon or elsewhere.
Anyone have comments on that one or maybe others to consider.
Looking to be able to control the system while away from T.V. via WIFI or Cell Ph.
Thanks in advance.

Happy with the BHyve.

It disconnected from wifi a couple of times cured by a power recycle so I added a wifi switch that resets power once a day.

Adding a Flume can be usefully for quickly knowing about broken heads, leaks, etc.

I went with a Rachio, based on a recommendation of an irrigation contractor. I installed and programmed it myself. Easy peasy.

I installed this unit last summer and love it. The install was very easy, as was the wifi connection. The app is its strong point as it's quite intuitive and easy to use to alter all aspects of the program remotely. It's also easy to turn zones on and off while out in the yard from a smart phone, thus avoiding multiple trips back to the garage when checking the system. I didn't enable the smart watering feature as I questioned how reliable it would be -- it might be good, but I didn't want to chance it taking too much control. Instead, I just hooked up the simple rain sensor.

I am seasonal also. I installed the B-Hyve. It is an easy instal and works perfectly. I do have a friend who lives here all year, who checks on the place for us. You'll want someone to have access in case the WiFi needs to be reset. My thermostat-humidistat is also WiFi enabled, so having someone available to reset the WiFi is critical.

I am not familiar with this. Does this reset itself if you are away?

I also installed the Orbit b-hyve wifi controller about 9 months ago. Initially the controller disconnected from wifi on 3 or 4 occasions and required a manual reset.

Knowing that this could be a problem if we were away, I added a Leviton wifi plugin that allows me to reboot the b-hyve remotely. However, subsequent bios software updates to the b-hyve must have solved the issue because I haven’t needed to reboot the b-hyve controller in the last 6 months. I plan on keeping the Leviton plug-in in place as insurance.

I put in a Rachio. Very easy set. Can delete days when it is raining or add quick runs when it is hot and dry. Can access remotely without a problem.

I have a few Bhyve units working and depending on how YOU set them up, they all work perfectly. I have found the smart watering feature leaving the grass a little dry so I tweak the setting a bit.
That is my go to unit and that's the unit I would get again.

Leviton DW15P-1BW Decora Smart Wi-Fi Mini Plug-In Outlet, No Hub Required, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Nest. Got it from Amazon for around $25 but it might also be available from the big box stores.
