Default Replacing Windows

Someone told me recently that The Villages will not let you replace your windows...if true, does anyone know why?

thank you.

Call In Home Warranty for that type of question.

Horsefeathers!

We had some replaced last year by The Villages.

BUT.....I am willing to guess it would take longer if you called Warranty and start yelling at them.

Just an FYI regarding replacement of windows.
If you purchased new and your home is still under the one year warranty,
check all your windows for both water "and" air leaks.

A window frame water leak will be easy to spot and a window air leak will usually begin with small brownish spots within the inside portion of the glass window patricians and you may also observe moisture within this area.

I also believe that if your new home is outside the one year warranty mark, The Villages warranty department will still replace for free, less a $150 administrative labor fee all windows which have air leaks. Good Luck

I think the window glass has a 10 year seal warrenty from the mfg. The installer labor is only covered for 1 year.

Contact the company that originally installed the windows for help.

I remember something about approval for the type of material used.

I think you are right. I called Warranty a few years ago and yelled at them until they hung up but it didn't do any good. However, I really enjoyed it.

In 2017 we were the only house on our cul-de-sac when they decided to build houses on the rest of the lots. Parking is limited in a cul-de-sac and some of the workers would park in front of our driveway so we could not get in or out of our driveway. There were seven houses being built at the same time so we did not know which workers were parking in front of our driveway.

I called the Warranty office but they did nothing about it. Finally someone suggested we call the Wildwood police, so we did, and they came by right away. The officer found who had parked in front of our driveway and told him to move his vehicle.

After that, we never had a problem.

We just had ours done by AlumiTech. Not quite finished yet, waiting on one replacement for a window that broke in transit, and they have to replace the awning they took down to put up the ones in the lanai.

Great job so far, VERY expensive, but they were custom built for the house since it's a double-wide and not standard sizes. The best part about it is, the windows are all up to code now. They were the single-pane, single-hungs that would shatter if you breathed on them too hard. Now we have super-thick light filtering acrylic on the lanai sliders, a real actual door (instead of our old screen door) so we can use that as a front door from now on if we want, and double-pane double-hung insulated windows all around. Like those Andersen windows that tilt out so you can clean them without having to go outside, remove a screen, and climb a ladder.

SUCH a huge difference! Plus we got kick plates on the lanai, adding more insulation for longer yearly use of the room, and pet screen on the lanai so the cat can hang out there at night without shredding the screen when the ferals wander by.
