Default responsible dog owners what a joke

How can people call themselves responsible dog owners. i have more people letting their dogs poop on my lawn. They get indignant when i tell them to take their dogs else where. Its my lawn and i shouldnt have to tell people to take their dog poop else where . Why dont they use their own lawns.I also think its totally disgusting to go to the Lynnhaven mail station and people let their dogs pee on the roof columns. Also pick up after your dogs its not a hard thing to do.You flush after you go its the same thing. There is nothing more disgusting than stepping in dog poop.Dog ownership in the villages is a privilege not a right so stop abusing it just like the buffalo dog ownership in the villages can disappear.

There ARE a lot of responsible dog owners in The Villages. As with a lot of things, it only takes a few to make the majority look bad. I try to not paint with a broad brush, recognizing that it smears more of the good ones than the bad ones.

Perhaps if they had a blog, like for weather, or pictures posted of owners and dogs being "irresponsible" like the bad parking.........

Good luck, The villages can not keep dog owners out just like can't keep leaches living with their parents or selling resale to under age. Don't group all dog owners in which the ones that disrespects your property. Just like I don't group all leaches in with the bad ones the make the news. Your telling them and hopefully they will get the message.

The village can't even control number dogs cats, birds lizards, or what have in household. Matter fact the villages has little control. It's mostly self control or personnel responsible. Sell baby sell.

Not sure about peeing on the columns at the postal centers. Once a dog has done that many other dogs will do like wise. My friend from Lynnhaven and I were visiting with our two dogs yesterday at Lynnhaven where she said it was 100 degrees in the sun. The dogs were resting the shade near the postal center. I will bet that many dogs over the past week have peed on these columns.

I try to pick up my dog's poop but if this is very runny cannot do that either.

Dogs will be dogs. And the Villages' developers have tried to make this a very pet friendly area with the dog parks, water bowls in the Squares and/or near businesses.

My friend's dog had walked into a fire station in Harlem in New York in the dead of winter and then been picked up by a dog shelter. Lucky to be alive. He does not need to die from heat stroke because he cannot go into the shade around the Lynnhaven Postal Center. I have noted that sometimes people will spray these columns with pepper spray which seems cruel.

You live in a dream (nightmare?) world, don't you.

You don't group the bad leeches in with the good leeches. How broad-minded of you.

I too have had dog poop on my front lawn. I thought about placing a sign at the poop site asking the dog owner to please be more responsible, in the hope that the actual dog owner in question would pick it up. I also thought there would be a possibility that I would offend MANY dog owners, which could result in more incidents of dog poop being left on my lawn. I opted to do nothing.

The OP was addressing the people who own dogs who are not being responsible...we all know they are out there.

Why are the responsible dog owners getting offended, I don't get it.

Maybe they need a "good dog school" similar to the "good golf school"? Just a thought.......

How so? Dogs have to pee somewhere and a column really does not seem to be too bad a place. Especially if we are talking about very small dogs. You might have a point about a Great Dane or some other big dog making a huge puddle you have to step around but little dogs usually leave a little but here and a little bit there because they want to mark where they have gone. I have been taking a dog to Lynnhaven Postal Center since January 2007 and I have NEVER heard any complaints about some dog peeing on a column. Uncleaned dog poop or poop in the trash cans yes but not pee on columns.

You will surely find some hostile reactions to your Valid complaint. It is the dogs instinct NOT to go where it lives.
IT IS A MATTER OF SANITATION.

For a male dog it will urinate on most any pole, tire etc-it is marking territory.

SOLUTION-there a tons of things that will repel dogs. You can buy them and they are reasonably priced and do not hurt the dog. Old remedies HOT PEPPER OR MOTH BALLS

Usually a little pee here and there. And I would be careful about putting some kind of material around a Postal Station that may harm dogs. That's Villages Property not yours. And dogs are our property and often something that keeps seniors going strong in their lives.
