Choices, choices, choices.
So many choices to make in life and living here was one of them,
one of the BEST of them.

Most definitely time for another cup of coffee.

Never knew there was a "rest of the country."

I too had my cup of coffee with the sun shining, only it was in a paper cup bought on a gas station. Yesterday, up north, started with no electricity. It was followed by a tree going through my roof, damaging windows and a fence, to name a few things. We have been fixing up our house to put it up for sale, so that we can make the move to our house in TV. It seems like you take two steps forward and ten steps backwards. Then we heard the news of a tree crashing down on a house in our town, thus killing the eleven year old boy. That really put things in perspective for me. Yes, we are lucky. Life is good!

Played a round of golf this morning, and complained about how nippy it was. My relatives up north just laughed and laughed.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. It is interesting though how quickly things can be put into perspective, but what a tragedy. So sad for the family that lost their child. My heart breaks for them.

We were blessed not to even lose electricity here, but have been praying for those north of us who have been hit a lot harder than we were. Hoping that this is the last obstacle that you have to come up against before getting to TV and that the sale of your house goes smoothly and quickly.

It's sunny, no snow or rain. There really is a great deal of the country besides the Northeast.

I read right here on my computer that California was having snow this morning.

Evacuation orders lifted as major storm slams California with rain, snow and travel disruptions into Saturday

Snow in California is not exactly news breaking, given that here are a plethora of areas in California...that get copious amounts of snow.

Which is the reason that there are so many ski resorts in the state.

California Ski Resort Map

The worst conditions I've ever driven in, was going over Donner Pass during the Blizzard of 1988 in almost a complete whiteout, whereby I-80 had been reduced from four lanes...to just one. Not even the plows were out at this point.

I eventually had a string of cars following me at my speed of 5-10 mph, that even when I pulled over every so often to let hopefully someone else lead, they would pull over behind me...and wait for me to get going again.

The only way I could tell that I was on the main path of the four lane Interstate, is because the rental car would start having snow come over the hood...if I drifted away from it. On an Interstate mind you!

5 hours to travel about 40 miles and I was totally beat when it finally turned to rain coming into Colfax. I thought I was flying at this point, but looking at my speedo it showed I was screaming along...at rip-snorting 35 mph.

They had closed the pass while I was coming over and the backup of eastbound I-80 cars turning around...must have been at least 20 miles long.

I am very happy to be here in Florida and forever done with winter, a goal I've been aiming for since high school. I refuse to feel smug. We know firsthand the weather difficulties others are going through, including members of our own immediate family. I wish the best for everyone and hope they are at home with electricity, safe and snug.

Nice to see it snowing in the High Sierra. California needs the snowpack for water. My son lived and worked around Lake Tahoe for years. I visited a few times around Christmas and they do get a lot of snow - and bears.
